8th Ed. Lookin to build an army around a dread saurian

So I got a hint from her about who shes playing since she wont let me look at her skaven book.
.The giant 4 armed abomination with the rat on top is my leader babe." -girlfriend of dread saurian
Should I be worried? Or can my big scaly boi mess that guy up?
Hell Pit Abomination?...

Dont tell me I bought the wrong rulebook?
damnit...
The model in the picture you provided is from the End Times. The characters Thanquol and Boneripper do exist in standard WFB as well, but I believe they are two separate models...

Under the standard rules the two models have separate profiles, while under the End Times rules they have a combined profile.

Is she using the rules out of the regular Skaven army book?...

Id hazard a guess that she is using the combined rules since the model is the combined one

That is an important distinction, as they have different rules. I personally don't have any experience with the End Times. I'm not a fan of the additions that the End Times brought to game. Some armies got massive boosts in terms of power and others (like Lizardmen) received nothing.

Ima buff the shit out of my dread saurian

That's definitely the End Times variant.

Do you know if your girlfriend plans to exchange the Warpfire projectors for the Warpfire Braziers? With the Braziers the fight between your Dread Saurian and Thanquol/boneripper will be colossal. Without the Braziers, the Dread Saurian should win easily unless you roll really poorly.

Just remember Skaven have Warp Lightening Cannons and Doom Wheels which can hurt your Dread Saurian. They are quite random, but if they roll well, they can bring down your Dread Saurian very quickly (and they count as magical attacks, so even if you make your Dread Saurian Ethereal, they can still hurt it)

What upgrades are you planning on taking?

She said she will do a kaiju battle with the braziers she also said youre right when it comes to her doomwheels (lord she has 2)
I plan on taking the crystal shroud. Tepoks eye (ethereal). Hearthstone(now hes toughness 8 but movement 5 dont know if worth or not). And shadow rebus(because fuck your stand and shoot) so I can keep it alive as much as possible. Being that I used to be a tyranids player I know shes gonna probably either focus my dread saurian down with some form of dakka or my carnosaur. Hopefully the cold one cav can be a decent screen if they cant just target it

I'm well aware that a lot of points are going into Tsu-Katcha(I named it) and for my slann I'm thinking I should make it a life slan or should I go something else?

I mean, if I was being honest, if you are playing end times rules she will have all the OP end times units. Your dread saurian is gonna get shredded regardless of what upgrades you give it.

Unless you give it the ambush upgrade and get it into combat straight away, I can't see it lasting very long.

Ya know I appreciate the brutal honesty. But hey nontheless I'm gonna make my girlfriend shake her head in hilarity at how well I adapted from 40k to fantasy

Even though my unit is odd as fuck my carno dread stego cold ones with saurus and skinks along with a slann group of psychos may be inefficient may not be effective. May not win. But I'll be damned if I dont maul my girlfriends army of rats in the process. I will work of theorycrafting after this battle I have with my girlfriend in 2 weeks my lizards will devour her rats. In time

Give your Carno's the roar upgrade, charge at anything that isn't in his leadership bubble, even if you won't make it. When they fail, re-direct, rinse and repeat as many units as you can. Make sure you get as many flank charges as you can to deny their steadfast.

Hot damn more tips hell yeah!
What would be best for my stegadon? Should it be ancient?
I need to figure out how much this army is right now.

A couple of quick notes:

#1 The Oldbood/Scar-vet cowboy (on a cold one) is far more effective than the Carno build. The Carno is too vulnerable to artillery, shooting, magic and even close combat while the Cowboy can safely hide in a unit of cold ones and is much more defensive. The Oldblood/Scar-vet cowboy is our single greatest unit. Cheap and effective.

#2 While the Warpfire Braziers makes Thanquol/Boneripper significantly more dangerous in close combat, it does come with a very serious weakness... namely it confers Flaming Attacks to CC. That means that a Cowboy can be very easily equipped to have a 2+ Ward Save in combat.

What about an Oldblood with the following kit [GW, Cold One, Dragonhelm, Dawnstone, OTS] 226 points

The Oldblood is S7 and has 1+ re-rollable armour save and a 2+ ward save vs fire.

Thanquol/Boneripper will need [4's to hit][2's to wound, re-rollable] and you'll have [5+ re-rollable armour save] [2+ ward] (wounds caused benefit from d3 multiplier)

The Oldblood will need [3's to hit + PF][2's to wound] and Thanquol will only have a 4+ ward save where successful wards must be re-rolled.

Hoooooly that is lunacy. Way better than what I was going with for my cold one cavs. Right now im thinking my army is gonna be short without upgrading my slann or giving my units special items yet but then again im still waiting for my lizardmen book to be delivered so idk how much everything costs except for that one you suggested and my dread saurian
