I think its 8th edition.

Right so im hopping over to fantasy from 40k because my girlfriend wants to roll over me with her skaven.

So I want to spoil her and her little furry rat bastards by throwing dinosaurs at them.

So I thought hey time for the biggest baddest dino there is so I bought the dread saurian first(jesus christ its expensive but so pretty) and the seraphon pack as a start to get maybe some good use out of the cold one cav and the saurus warriors along with kroq gar And his big ol pal grymloq.

Now i havent gotten to kitting them out with gear but she said her army is for 3k so I assume I dont have much to work with in terms of customization.

Also do I get the frogs on the floating chair? I have skinks and a stegadon on the way as well(curse you delivery people!)
All tips are welcome I am trying to read the rules as best as i can so all help is appreciated

EDIT 1: i dont want to cheat and metagame but im going for best for my buck builds with the units i have
EDIT 2: BOYS SHE AGREED TO RAISE THE POINT CAP TO 4K ITS TIME FOR SOME GOOD MEMES AND DREAMS LEGGO

You probably should get one.
There is not one in the boxes of models you have purchased so far.

You do have a few customization choices.

I need to add some links for you.

First the warscoll builder, an online mostly official tool, useful for checking point values and trying different builds. https://www.warhammer-community.com/warscroll-builder/

I used it to make this:

Allegiance: Order
Mortal Realm: Ghyran

Leaders
Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (240)

Battleline
20 x Saurus Warriors (180)
- Spears

Units
10 x Saurus Knights (160)
- Lances
20 x Skinks (140)
- Boltspitters & Star Bucklers

Behemoths
Dread Saurian (420)
Stegadon (200)
- Weapon: Skystreak Bow

Total: 1350 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 98

That is not a play legal list ^ it is just an inventory of the unbuilt figures you mentioned having.

Oops totally guilty of not checking the tag on the post ...sorry. If it is 8th you’ll be wanting a supply of square and rectangular bases.

Question: did the Dread Saurian ship from forgeworld with any bases at all?

It did. It came with this massive 11x8.5 inch one its massive

Question about the dark elf cold ones. I can proxy those sick looking beasts as my armys right? Maybe I can convert it to have a saurus on em?

I figured it out that she wants to do more of 8th edition

You can and they can be made to look spectacular. You might find a few pictures of such a conversions on this forum. Here is one I found on google...

Slann question. Theres 3 kinds right? The regular dat boi on the chair. Lord mazdamundi on his fuckhuge stegadon, or do I get the skelefrog and his temple guard?

Use riders from the starting Seraphon set but put them on the Dark Aelf beasts...that is one of the better conversion ideas.

Doing that will leave unused Cold Ones from the starter set. Try using them as raw material for converting into Razordons. Razordons are hard to come by and very expensive. But adding spikes and better scales and whatever level of sculpting you are able to enhance them with is a means of fielding spare parts as Razordons!

Lord Mazdamundi is not worth his points cost. Lord Kroak (the skelefrog) is a solid character who can be used very effectively but you have to design your list around him. If you were only going to purchase one, I'd go with a standard Slann because it is the most versatile and can suit a variety of play-styles.

There is also a Skink on a floating rock as an option in eighth edition.
That is Tetto'eko. He is the most competitive of all the Lizardmen special characters. Extremely cost effective.

Alrighty I'm stoked to get the dark elf cold ones to convert. Thank you pendrake and nightbringer

The regular slann alrighty. Thanks nightbringer for the tips on picking em out I'm stoked for the frog
Pendrake mentioned the skink on the floating rock and nightbringer you said its a great like is it the spells thay make it great or the stats?

My skinks showed up and I got them together
Is 20 enough??

Tetto'eko has the Loremaster (Lore of Heavens) special rule, which means he knows every spell from the Lore of Heavens. Normally a level 2 wizard would only get 2 spells, but he has all 7 from Heavens. On top of that he has couple of really great special rules / magic items and a built in 5+ ward save. Best of all, his points cost is very low for what he brings to the table.

In terms of the competitiveness of our special characters, Tetto'eko is the best one by far. Kroak and Gor-Rok are both pretty good and the rest are terribly underpowered / overcosted in my estimation. Especially considering how good our standard lords and heroes can be.

So I got a hint from her about who shes playing since she wont let me look at her skaven book.
.The giant 4 armed abomination with the rat on top is my leader babe." -girlfriend of dread saurian
Should I be worried? Or can my big scaly boi mess that guy up?
