Hey guys,
Well im back from taking a break from the forums and was wondering. Is lord Kroak a good named lord? I was thinking of building a list around this toad and wasnt sure what some nasty combos taht are boarder-line cheese. Can you guys help me brainstorm?

Also if im going for a named slaan should I use Kroak or Mazamundi?

Nope our character are too expensive to be cheesy. :D

I must've went temporarly but I heard that you could "Dethstar" a list using these guys. Not sure how that would turn out. Thinking of picking a named character and running around the game store.

they are both pretty bad, definetely not worth thier points.

of the 2, i've personally had much greater success with kroak. march him up the centre of the table, spamming all your dice into deliverance on max cast value. one game i got it off 3 times with irresistible force in turns 1-3. wasnt much left after that....

plus he's unbreakable, so they'll have to kill ALL those TG! perfect for setting up horrifying countercharges with stegadons or whatever :)

Not a big fan of named characters myself. Just not worth the points. I'd say just take a normal slann if anything and Maybe an ancient steg to (Steg becuase of Mazamundi).

Mazdamundi is certainly not worth it, Kroak maybe if you use him well.
What could be a good combination is this:
move EotG close to all those enemies, use Burning Alignment, and let Kroak cast Deliverance of Itza at highest casting value through the Priest, everything thats's close to that EotG is dead :walkingdead:

Deliverance isn't a magic missile as far as I am aware, so it can't be channelled through a priest.

Heard about a nasty game from a local player, LM vs HE.

LM were playing Kroak, HE had Teclis, and all was fine and dandy...until Teclis used the Scroll of Hoeth and made Kroak forget his one and only spell. And then promptly proceeded to burn his to the ground with spells from the Lore of Fire, cast with Irresistible Force.

That LM player must have been crying.

Having said that, I'd say Kroak has more uses than just his uber-spell. He certainly makes a fine target, as well as a distraction. Also, the psychological effect of telling a magically weaker race "I'm playing Lord Kroak" is bound to be useful.

Just my inexperienced two cents' worth.

He would be one expensive target :jawdrop:

True, but think of the advantage if an opponent wastes units in trying to go after your Slann and the TG. They won't die easily, and the move (hopefully) leaves your units free to flank his.

I don't know, but if I were playing against a Kroak, with a spell like that, he'd definitely be high up on the list of priorities to deal with. And that makes me predictable. If my enemy knows that, he can dictate the course of the battle to a greater extent and play things out to his advantage.

Another 2 cents' worth...that makes 4c. I'm cheap!

Well any character that is over 500pts better damn well be a high priority target to your opponent or you never should of brought them
 .

I wouldn't say that is a benefit of kroak. That is the whole idea behind a dethstar unit in the first place.

edit: well I guess it is a benefit overr Mazamundi, but not over a normal Slann :)
