8th Ed. Lizardmen 2250 point army list

My favourite moment with them is Marching, firing at a Giant and getting him down to 2 wounds, then killing him when he tried to charge them. Wonderful stuff.

So you can march with these guys and still shoot? My opponent said I couldn't.

Oh wow... My friend, I hope your opponent didn't pull the wool over your eyes due to malice...

Check the rules for Skirmishers. They can March and fire in the same turn. Then if you give them Javelins (which has the rule Quick to Fire) then they do not get a minus for moving and shooting.

The upshot is that they can March 12 inches, then shoot (usually at 5's to hit as with a 12" range for the Javelins you're almost always at long range).

You're playing 8th edition right?

Yes 8th edition rules. Thanks, I know for the next battle. It's been months since I played at the and this time with a new army. Honestly I can't wait to play again.

Yep.

And remember that as Skirmishers you can do free reforms, so you can reform, march backwards, reform to face forwards and then shoot again, effectively retreating while firing to give you more firing time.

I usually take 4x 10 minimum. This way you can win the deployment war by putting down more chaff than the opponent. And I use chaff lightly

That's the amount I usually take as well. It's almost an auto-include for me for a) deployment, b) redirectors, c) making tempting charges to pull units out of the battle line and d) there's usually something in every army that HATES poison which I can send them after.

Time for a new list. Can't wait to pay again. Should I get rid of the Bastiladon for more Skirmishers? Or another unit of Cold One Riders?

If you're playing regularly, then I would say try out some different army layouts. If I had the option of playing as regularly as you, I would try out some experimental lists. Come up with some wild strategies and test them out. Then you will know for sure when and where to use your different army pieces.

Just my opinion.

Nice.

You can't give Kroak any other magic items than what he has unfortunately... :(

I would take giant blowpipes on the Steg.

Can you get a Skink Priest with cloak of feathers? For me (when I'm using Kroak) this is an auto include as it makes the Kroak bomb spell a lot more dangerous as it can be cast through this little guy who can flit all over the table.

How would you build your Slann Mage Priest?

For an all-comers list?

I would do Becalming Cogitation (MUST include, re-roll dispels?!?! Yes please!), Wandering Deliberations (it gives you a lot of breadth of magic) or Focus of Mystery (I kind of like both of these and always waver between them, but I take WD mostly as I don't need to wait to have a lot of different spells), Harmonic Convergence and Channelling Staff. I'd make him BSB and also give him War Banner.

You now have a Slann who can re-roll first failed dispel, has 8 spells for a variety of situations, rolls 3 dice for channeling and gets an extra dice on a 5+ so on average you should have 1 more per magic phase, re-rolls the already Stubborn Temple Guard Leadership and gives +2 to combat resolution.

I will say that Kroak is still a great option because he induces unbreakable on the TG and also gives them a -1 to be hit in shooting or melee. Add the Skink priest flying around and it's really quite dangerous.

He also protects his Temple Guard unit from miscasts! It's often joked about that nothing kills Temple Guard as efficiently as a miscasting Slann.

Absolutely. Great point.

Plus you can cast his spell as many times as you have power dice which is always nice to use.

Can Lord Kroak hold a dispel scroll? Or should I add that to a Skink Priest?

Kroak, like any named character, cannot be given anything further (as there is no option on the army list for giving him extra points).

The Skink Priest makes an excellent caddie for the scroll!

Otherwise I would give him the Focus of Mystery ability and then we'd have some fun!

It also means, that unlike a regular Slann, he can't be our BSB, which is a huge drawback.

Thanks for your input!!!! I really wanted to use four units of Skink Skirmishers, however I need to get another Skink Priest to hold a dispel scroll.
