Hi i am a new member to this forum i have played lizardmen since november.

I am doing a small point game at the local WH club against a friend of mine in 4 days, so far i have only beaten him 3 times with my lizardmen lol. hes a realy good player :P

I dunno what he is bringing but this is my list any advice for a newb? :P
(he has mentiond possibly bringing doom wheel and a fellblade) He has not done his list yet

This is mine

Slann mage 3 Disciplines (probs gonna go life)
focus mastery, rumination and becalming

Sarus war x30
Full command
Scar vet x2 (in the sarus war unit)

SV1 Sword of strife, 2 extra attacks
Dragonhelm, AS+1 2+ward against fire

SV2 Piranha blade, (dubbles wounds)
enchanted shield AS+2
Bane head (start of fight can dubble any wounds on single char)

also considering using death or life magic not sure

life good because i can buff my main combat unit and keep it alive also if the slann gets shot at and loses a life he will be regenerated once i cast as spell as he is a bit of a target also i dont need to worry about misscasts but my friend will def try and stop me from getting the T buff spell off and nrly always brings a dispel scroll

death would good to snipe his wiz snipe that warlord if it comes and the death wheel potential making it so my lizzies will have no problems plowing threw the slaves and clanrats also a lot more spells for him to have to worry about i dunno

also not sure if my list is the best it could be but hopefully it will be fun to use

For your Slann you should really give him the Divine Plaque of Protection. Skaven shooting can be pretty rough on lone characters.

Totally your call on the magic. Both are pretty good and your list would work well with either.
 
yeah i fogot to list the bsb i gave it to the scar vet that had the dragon helm :P i used exactly 1.5k points so i would have to get rid of somthing to give slann a magic item also i think you only spend 375 points on a lord in a 1.5k game and slann cost that with 3 disciplins so even if i freed up the points it would be a illigal list wldnt it?
 
Skaven are really tough at this points level. I'd second dropping a discipline, if he brings a cannon you need to protect your Slann. It will also help against pesky gutter runners with slings/poison. One concern is that there is a lot of points in one unit (I presume you are going points denial). Be wary of wither and dreaded thirteenth as it will on average kill 14 saurus per cast, effectively halving your strongest unit on an average roll. I feel only having one strong unit will result in Skaven surrounding you and grinding you down, especially if wither goes off. I presume you are going horde?

As for lore, I'd go life as my experience with Skaven is that they skitterleap away from death slanns.
 
Good solid list. I've found chamo skinks and salamanders work very well against skaven, and your saurus will tear through his clan rats, even without buffs. Will you be bunkering your slann in the saurus? With the full command and 2 scar vets, you can safely do that, having him in the second row.
 
pretty good idea to bunker him i actuly didnt think of doing that also means i dont need to worry about shooting as much because of the look out sir

was planning on puting salmanders on ether side of the Sarus unit in the hope of it not geting flanked and holding back let the scaven charge in blasting them with magic till they get in combat
keep the lizzys buffed up and move with the sallys

im not sure about hording them 6 by 5 would be nice though i dunno 10 by 3 makes it hard to get rank bonus will have to think about the pros and cons of doing that , plus 6 by 5 is potentialy easyer to move around with the tactic of hold back as much as possible and avoide geting flanked

i plan to deal out lots of dmg with spells and shooting hopefully anything that gets near to my main unit will be realativly weakend if my plan works and have the camo skinks take out any cannons behind the skaven

something i need to think about is if the hole hord of skaven push forward at the same time even if i hold back i could still get flanked in the end even with the slallys on my flanks as they would die eventualy to a big group

i def like the bunkering idea though thats prob gonna work realy well

10/3 or 6/5 is somthing to think about aswell 37 attacks in a 10/3 but lose 10 guys and i start losing attacks and only 37 attacks if all models are in contact wich is not always the case in hord form

25 attacks in 6/5 so 12 less but can lose 18 guys before i start losing attacks
 
just had a thought wich i may be wrong about but if i was to bunker the slann in the sarus unit wouldnt he have to go at the frunt because they are not temple guard? if so will def put him in harms way wich is a lil worrying lol :P
 
No, Slann could go in second row as command HAS to go at front, then characters. Since you have 3 characters you can put the two Scar Vets up front but Slann must go in second, losing you 3 str 4 attacks. Not a huge deal I guess. Storm Banner may ruin your skinks and salamanders day, otherwise nice list!
 
ok thats nice ill def do that then and go life aswell hope for gl as my m8 is a gd player ill post here the results too so u can see how it goes lol ill try rember what he brings so i can list that 2 :)
 
Also, if he brings lots of toys. He will have you beat on shooting. Doomrockets (large template, fairly accurate and wound saurus on 3's), death globes, brass orbs (really nasty vs lizards) and warpfire cannons. He potentially would shoot you to bits, not to mention that skaven magic is very offensive.
 
yeah im a lil worried about his shooting im hopeing i can pick some of them off with my camo skinks and get the rest with my mage befor they reach me, make a wall of scermisher in front of the main unit aswell so they have to kill them first and on the flanks have the sallys hopefully most of the shooting will be down before the main unit has to take the brunt of it but if i am unlucky ill be owned lol sapose its a risky stratergy . maby he wont bring much shooting :P and for the magic i am hopeing having remove 6's on slann will be enough to nerf his casting
 
the battle is tonight at 6 so ill post round 10 ish when i get back :) hope for a good game
 
well it was a awsome game but unfortunatly i lost lol :P

he brought a hell pit 40-50 slaves 20-30 storm vermin
20 -30 clanrats and a warplightning cannon
a grayseer a engineer and a warlord

overall the game went well 2 -3 main stages wich were game chaning
first was i chose to go death. unfortunatly i failed to cast twise early in 2 of my fazes and only got a few spells off, i was hopeing to kill the hellpit or at least one of his genrals


the second main thing that lost the game was the hellpit was to the left of my main unit in combat with my sallys it had survived one turn and i declared a charge on the Skaven unit with the bsb and grayseer, the skaven chose to flee but i roled a 2 and a 3 and failed to reach the unit leaving me right next to the hellpit

the 3rd thing that realy messed things up was wither
in the next 3 turns i got witherd 3 times and was seriously weakend

after that the hellpit charged me and so did evry other unit so i was incombat with evrything the Skaven had (this was at turn 3)

my unit survived till turn 6 maby if i had gone life i would have regend enough to survive till the end and if i could get the T4 buff off i may have faired better

the scarvets did realy well killing evry one of his genrals and champions exsept for the unit that could not fit in combat

the hellpit had 1 wound left on him at the end


in the end i lost to wither it finshed the unit off even with the 6's being nerfed i was realy unlucky with my dispell dice :( oh well lol

(Sally did realy well also and wiped out over half of the stormvermin )
