AoS Lightning Hammer and stuff that happen with a 6

Gents,

Played a quick game last night. Stormcast player, uses the Blast to Ashes Lightning Hammer thing with his retributors. The idea is that they generate 2 mortal wounds if they roll a 6 or more to hit.

Can this be improved by say for instance the Lord Celestants ability that gives them +1 to hit, make the roll needed for the two mortal wounds a 5+? This was the route taken by my opponent, I couldnt think quickly enough as to why it might be bullshit but with hindsight.....

Any replies and supporting info greatly appreciated! Has it been FAQ'd or is it just really easy to prove either way?
 
I would say yes, it can be improved in that way. The +1 rules don't reduce the hit roll needed, instead it literally adds 1 to the result of the dice. In the case of rolling a 5 on a D6 to hit, it would actually count as having rolled a 6.

;) that's why we are here. I learned that on this forum.

Forgot to apply this last battle (still won) but my Saurus guard felt the difference.
