The Centurion - the British counter for the Tiger developed right at the end of the Second World War:

Sadly the war ended before we could test this beast upon its intended German opponent, but it served us admirably during the Korean War where it ran down Communist Chinese infantry hordes, with crews being able to fire machine guns at each other's vehicles to pick off Chinese troops that had clambered onto them, without the tanks themselves suffering any damage.
