Movement was most definitely not more complex. Move the block or choose to reform. Fairly simple concepts. Now you have to choose whether to toghten up, or space out, your unit, and maintain cohesion, having a whole army of skirmishers. Choosing when and how to move comes down to the same concepts and tactics of a free flow game table.
I liken AoS movement to that of 40k. I've played 40k and it's movement is simplistic in comparison to WFB.

Go play some first edition WFB and let me know if it's recognizable as the same base for 8th edition.
Comparing the first and last edition of a game system with as many iterations as WFB is going to give you a fairly stark contrast. However, the step by step progression from one consecutive edition to the next gives you a completely different story. There are obvious differences but they are still the same base game.

here are Battles. Warhammer Fantasy Battle: Age of Sigmar. So the fact is

also includes Age of Sigmar.

AoS it not the next edition of WFB, it is GWs new game. You keep that filth to yourself :p. It is far too different of a game, for better or worse (I believe for worse, you believe for better). It is not "9th edition". The mechanics differ too greatly. The fluff and setting are completely different.

As to why it carries the Warhammer moniker, GW is taking advantage of brand recognition. Simple marketing.

Here... something less combative to talk about:

I am just going to go ahead and stamp my victory.

I would say triceratops would beat laser raptors, but it would be close.
