7th Ed. Krox and Terradons GW only

I'm new to the forum and I thought I'd share this with you. I was just told by the War Store that they could not fulfill my order of Kroxigors and Terradon Riders b/c GW have made them direct-only items. That's a serious obstacle to me building my new LM army. These guys aren't cheap and will be made even more expensive with the upcoming price hike. Thought you guys should know. Later.
 
Well there a few different alternatives that work well for the kroxigor if you aren't set on the GW models. With the terradons there's not any simple alternative, unless you are up to doing lots of conversions yourself.
 
The ones I got are Lizardmen tyrants from Reaper miniatures. They have a 4 pack for $12.99 US, but you will have to buy the 40mm bases.

They are just shy of 2 inches tall, where the new GW kroxigor are 2 1/4 inches or so.

Also the new GW kroxigor are a little beefier.
 
Well terradons have always been direct only, I didn't think Krox used to be though... Its a bit rude of GW, makes you pay full retail rather than a discount price, but not much you can do. I'm converting my terradons, and bought a couple of krox when they weren't direct only.
 
The reaper lizard tyrants are really nice (cheap) alts to kroxigor, infact I probably prefer these models. I'm not sure about kroxigor as they are in 7th ed, but if theres positive changes in 8th ed i'll be ordering from reaper. As for terradons, yes their really expensive, and theres no proper alternatives, but reaper do make a few flying lizards for much cheaper, as long as your happy with them not having a skink mounted, or fancy doing a little converting.
 
Razors are direct only to..... found out a few weeks ago. Makes no sense considering they are current line and the only type of models for that army book entry...

Thanks for the help, guys. Those Reaper models are quite nice. I didn't realize that some of these GW models were direct only b/c GW's website usually puts a "mail order only" special graphic on those items that can only be purchased from them. Maybe they're a bit behind on updating their site... no, what am I saying. That couldn't be right. This is GW we're talking about after all.

I had a thought that if Kroxigor are going to be beefed up rules-wise in 8th, GW knows that you can now only get the official models from them. And that's why they were chosen for a price hike of almost $3US each starting in June. Mo' money! Mo' money! Mo' money!

Also among trading circles Kroxigors aren't too hard to find for a decent price, I got 3 for £11 off one guy.

Sadly Terradons are nigh on impossible to get anywhere but GW much like Razordons, even ebay doesn't have the latest edition Terradons
 
terradons has always been on direct buy only for quite some time now. but i was just at a store and they had a whole supply of Kroxigors on the racks. i don't know but i think its just terradons. but don't worry man, i have played plenty of games and i haven't even used terradons yets. i'm waiting for that wow factor for me to get the terradons. same goes for chameleon skinks. but anywho, good luck building!!
