Ok I haven't played Warhammer in over a year. I sold all of my old armies and thought I would never play again. Feeling a void in my life I got a new rule book and chose Lizards for this go around (I've done High Elves, Brets, Empire, Chaos, and Dogs of War... DoG were really fun!).
The way I build new armies works like this. I write a base army of 2000 points that I get first, and then I make any specialized 2000 points armies after so that I can mix and match as I see fit for each game or tourny. I try to make base armies well balanced so that I can build a number of specilized armies from it. Here's the list I wrote up for Lizards as a base.
Slann Mage-Priest
Higher State of Consciousness, Battle Standard, Cupped Hands of the Old Ones
Skink Chief
Ancient Steg, Stegadon War-spear
Skink Priest
Skink Priest
20 Saurus Warriors w/ command, and spears
20 Saurus Warriors w/ command and spears
10 Skink Skirmishers
10 Skink Skirmishers
10 Skink Skirmishers
20 Temple Guard w/ command and Sun Standard of Chotec
Total is 2000 even.
Tactics for it would be pretty straight forward. March skinks in front of blocks of Saurus, get the Saurus and TG into combat asap and charge their hammer unit with the steg. All while the Slann is eating them up with magic. And with 6 disspell I can stop most of their magic.
Thoughts? Should I drop the steg and add something else? Should I drop the slann, or a unit of saurus from something else?
