Over here it's a 3 year LLB in law, followed by a 1 year "on the job" that I can't remeber the name of in which you do specialised work in 3 areas of law, only get paid £16'000 for that year and it's not an easy position to get. After that it's up to roughly £32'000 a year as a fully qualified solicitor. Have to do advocacy training inorder to be able to rep clients in court though.
Over here we also have a "legal executives" training plan which takes 6 years to complete and you only become a "legal executive" which isn't as prestigous as a solicitor but the training costs less and is easier to do as you can do it at colleges and such as opposed to uni.
Or something like that lol - I was up very late last night and the brain still lacks caffeine....
