Though I thought Dostoyevsky's themes were more on suffering and man being his own worst enemy. Though I only read a couple of his short stories (a Nasty Story and Bobok) and most of the Gambler, so a better scholar can probably correct me. I never could get through Tolstory's War and Peace either... :P
