I'm pretty sure George Lucas was not really involved with the holiday special. I remember reading a long while ago that he authorized some others to work on it, but he himself was pretty far removed from it. I've never met anyone who considered it to be canon.

Jar Jar or Christmas special?

The Holiday Special is far worse than Jar Jar. I still enjoy episode I, but the Holiday Special is unbearable. I've only watched it once, and I couldn't even do it in a single sitting. I had to break it up into 4-5 smaller and more manageable segments.
