First: I work/worked in the retail sector... it's unnecessary and those poor people have to work a day everyone else has time to go shopping...
Second: only supermarkets are open on the 24th ....
Third: I discovered the advantages of giving out gift carts and vouchers...:p

I have a similar experience. I worked at a place that was open literally 365 days a year.
