At my work, we have a tupperware bin full of little rocks. When a customer gets lippy and insists that we should be happy to be working and to "give us a little smile" - this happens more often than you'd think - we take a rock, draw a smiley face on it, and hand it to them. It is a little smile, and we're giving it to them.
