Just for laughs...

I have an uncle who is a bit of an idiot. He went shooting and had a hang fire. When he opened the breach to give the round some air and hopefully have the round fire...he did so with his hand over said breach. The resulting blast from the round discharge went through part of a finger. Did the idiot go to the hospital? Did he go to emergency care? Did he grab some tape and proceed to shoot for another hour? Yes he is an idiot and I don't feel safe to go shooting with him anymore. So people shouldn't be allowed near guns.

basically that's a thing most people don't get when there's a debate around gun control.
A gun by itself is not a problem
An idiot holding a gun is a problem.
It's the lack of control of idiots that should be the main issue.

Absolutely! I grew up with half my family living in Maine, they all owned guns. The ones who had 100+ acres of land allowed the rest to hunt. All the long guns were in cabinets with no locks but no one touched them. Unless you were cleaning, hinting or defending the family, we had bears and other predators, you didn't play with the firearms. Pistols were locked up but that's understandable. We had no gun accidents or theft. Now with more people and more idiots they have to be locked up. Idiots shouldn't have guns and I'm looking a few family members specifically.
