I must plead ignorance. I always thought that the Short Story contest was exclusively about writing, reading and voting on Lizardmen fan fiction. I had no idea that actual gladiatorial duels to the death between the writers was a possibility. :wideyed:
Well one could argue that writers are gods of a sort (at least upon their own realm of vellum.) With the press of buttons or the flourish of a pen they create civilisations, worlds, many lives. With the press of buttons or the flourish of a pen they destroy civiliations, worlds, and many lives. Writers can often be cruel beings, placing their characters through more anguish and suffering than a mortal being should experience. They may claim that it is for the characters to remerge from the furnace stronger and greater, and they may be right, but their actions are oft still ones of cruelty. Place these creative and bloodthirsty beings in opposition to others in such an arena of death and it could be a battle of the ages...or the three of them just throw pens and pencils at each other until everyone gets bored and goes home. Probably the latter.

[LoR eyes glaze over and he speaks with an other-worldly voice]

"You must seek out the @Scolenex , my son. Only he can explain the true chaos that is the short story contest"

...do you really believe that the sudden disappearance of some members of Lustria online was merely due to life choices? :angelic:
Oh no, wasn't @Bowser into this short story stuff before his disappearance?? He shall be avenged!

I guess we'll see first hand should this second round of voting end in a tie.

We got a good voter turnout, so I'm glad I set a long entry window on this.

It does look like we got every one who voted the first time plus a couple more. I'm glad people are still interesting in these contests after years of their existence.

I asked everyone to reread these pieces before re-voting, and I followed my own rules, though I ended up voting for the same piece twice.

I also voted for Sprouting Flower for what it's worth.

It's just interesting stories to read. What more explanation do you need?

I was kind of hoping you'd continue the whole mystery hype thing we started on Nightbringer participating / reading the short story contest...

(It's a vain hope, but I thought if amusing enough he might get inspired)

Unfortunately, as they say: "it takes two to tango".

well, i'm not the winner, but this is my FIFTH consecutive podium.
I'm pretty proud of it.

Heh, guess we are podium buddies on this one, good sir!

No shame in "losing" to a Chaos Dwarf story.

Did you know that Lustria Online short story competition entries featuring Chaos Dwarfs have a perfect undefeated championship record? Never finished in a position other than first!

:D

In the last comp, i won over @Lizards of Renown by a mere vote.
This round he brought Chaos Dwarfs to the fray... i believe to avoid such an occurrence.
Smart choice! :p
