Contest January-February 2026 Contest (Entries closed)

"Hopefully soon"???????? Imposter! The real Y'ttar always sends me his submission within the last 72 hours before the deadline.
See, told you I was chaotic! I can delete it all and start again within the last 48hrs if you prefer. :p

So, I haven't written a piece of public fiction over 500 words since mid 2023. This competition was an excuse to see how rusty I am and any bad habits i've picked up from PbP and general GMing, so rather than mull it over for a month, I went all in early to see where the damage is.

Skeptical of your own abilities and hyper critical of your past work.

Okay, maybe you are the real Y'ttar....

Sure, it's "Best in Life" to crush my enemies, et al... but if the price of doing so turns my main hobby into something that feels like work, then screw that, cos that price ain't worth it. I'll drive my foes to their knees through means that don't require sacrificing my enjoyment. :p

To be honest you're not wrong. I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment and that is the right way of looking at it. However, since we are on the topic of enjoyment... I delight in playing the role of the contrarian....

Or better yet...

Betting on a Chaos Dwarf story winning in a contest with the theme of Chaos Dwarfs? Hmm... tough to say. I mean, it feels like it would have such stiff competition... ¬_¬ :-P

A battle of gods. Each wielding the awesome power of the Dawi-Zharr!

So, are we taking bets on the a Chaos Dwarf story winning the comp? :D

I think the win for you already is me investigating Chaos Dwarf Lore... It will take some time to get a story together.

Grrr, !mrahil

When it comes to more Chaos Dwarf content...

So... participation rewards? *pfffffffft*

When everybody gets a win, nobody gets a win.
Everybody is a winner in the sense that their lives are emotionally and intellectually enhanced. Indexes of happiness, fulfillment and satisfaction all trend significantly upwards. As far as a contest winner (which you didn't seem so keen on in your previous posts), there can be only one (unless we have a draw, followed by a second tie-breaker draw :p).

There is no escape from Chaos Dwarfs. They mark us all.

@Scalenex what made you, a person who is typically diametrically opposed to my aims, decide to set the Chaos Dwarfs as the contest theme. I always figured someone might do it one day, but I never figured it would be you.

I found this photo of you, NIGHTBRINGER... I think this was taken when you went a whole two days without hearing the words "Chaos" and "Dwarfs" in that exclusive order.

That's not true. I have many topics of interest that I bounce between, to name a few...
  • 8th edition WHFB
  • Star Wars (the real stuff, not the Disney shit)
  • Slaanesh
  • Chaos War Mammoth
  • Football/Messi
  • Samurai Jack
  • ATLA
  • Castlevania (the show)

To name but a few. I've definitely posted more Star Wars content on the forum than Chaos Dwarf stuff.

One might even say that I take things to excess.

...but one of the main reasons for my interest is no more! :(

Season 4 was glorious and epic... and a very high note for the series to end on.

I haven't watched Castlevania Nocturn, so I can't judge whether that ruined the high note however. My advice, watch season 3 and 4, feel the pure epic flow through your veins, and then pretend that Nocturn doesn't exist unless NIGHTBRINGER convinces you otherwise.

At this time, I am immune to such chaotic charisma, as I'm on a stretch of No-Netflix Subscription. And not even the greatest of arguments will have me re-subscribe until I am finished with the streaming service that I am currently on. :-P
