8th Ed. It's confirmed, the High Elves are getting...the Batman!

Lol, this teaser trailer brought to you by Christopher Nolan...

Something "fiery" which is " reborn".....oh gee good thing we dont have FREAKIN PICTURES THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN REVEALED to spoil this genuine mystery...it would REALLY kill the excitement!

I think that was trailer was pretty cool, way better than the Daemons of Chaos one, which was almost identical to Warriors of Chaos... Although, they went a bit over-board with the last scenery, where a flat shadow goes up and down. Still, very exciting news! And not all follow forums and rumours. I think this is more fun than just announcing "Yeah, so, High Elves are next. Carry on."

No critcism! Just pointing out that everybody know that batman is phoenix wayne! :P

As long as Batman is not hit by the GW Nerf Bat, I'll take him! HE need a unit that doesn't keel over the first time something sneezes in thier general direction.

I saw some rumors posted elsewhere (not sure where), but apparently, ASF is gone.

The use of the Phoenix shadow indicates that their new 'giant' model will be some type of Phoenix that grants buffs or casts spells or something.

Lol, with the batman thing stuck in my head thats all I could see as it was flying about.

Yeah lots of good release rumors abound

Prices and release list was on a blog today.

Any siginifigant Lizardmen FAQ's ???

The Blade of Realities kills any model that does not have a characteristic to test on. Dead Screaming bell and Steam tank (not sure on this one).

And Occam's Mindrazor can now use Inspiring Presence. As can Spirit Leech.

Blade of Realities instakills the Screaming Bell (and anything else that has an Ld value of 0.

Edit: too slow. :(

Steam tank has an Ld of "-", just like the Screaming Bell and Plague Furnace.

It seems the HEs aren't getting the Batman after all, they are getting phoenixes. Well there's flaming egg on my face.

It seems most of the things the folks at Ulthuan were saying came to pass.

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/c...arge.jsp?catId=cat440004a&rootCatGameStyle=wh

-Phoenixes
-flying chariots with optional bolt thrower
-tiranoc chariot and lion chariot now one kit
-Reavers and Silverhelms are now Core
-Assorted new models (the Shadow Warriors look awesome!)
-The Everqueen is making it back to the army book

It was expected that Tiranoc chariots might become Core but they didn't. The new Maiden guard as a basic unit seemed to catch many people by surprise. I like that GW finally has a female unit that isn't too fetishized.

Shortly we will know if the other rumors are going to be true.
-High Elves will lose ASF as a basic ability (some elites will have it)
-High Elves will gain a new special parry save that applies to shooting and can be used with weapons other than hand weapons
-High Core, Reavers, and Bolt Throwers will become reasonably priced
-Dragons will become cheaper
-Some character will get Toughness 4 (the delusional forumites say this one)

The fluff in the new books has been slightly disappointing to me. I'm hoping for some High Elf history that doesn't revolve around:
Dark Elves start some skyte, High Elves stop them at great cost, rinse and repeat. (but I know better).

I went through the models that are in advance order at the GW site. I really like the Maiden Guard, they actually look beautiful and are not equipped with huge front bumpers. That's actually quite unique. On the other hand, I really don't like all the heart decorations. Carebears, anyone? Looking forward to read about the fluff and their stats/special abilities.

Yeah, the Maiden Guard do have a Care Bears feel with all of the hearts, but that is a symbol of Avelorn. That didn't stop me from ordering two boxes though. Now I just have to decide if they would be better a Shadow Warriors, or if I need to invest in a bunch of really small magnets. :)

Not the update they deserved, but the one that they needed?

It remains to be seen just what this update will really mean. There is a ton and a half of speculation, ranging from doom and gloom to ecstatic proclamations of joy over on Ulthuan.net. I for one am eager to get the new book, the new units and play some games.

I really wanted Monstrous Cavalry that could go toe-to-toe with Mournfangs and leave a steaming pile of evicerated ogre behind them. That is not what we got. However, the Phoenix will have applications that MC can't quite manage. They aren't the "walk up and bash your face in" style of some other armies, but if used correctly, they will leave a steaming pile of evicerated ogres behind them (just not toe-to-toe). :bored: The High Elves have been changed significantly in regard to magic and many people will have to change the way they are used to doing things. At this point in time I am optimistic about the future of the HE army and look forward to seeing what I can come up with and what others will come up with. I can say that things have gotten a lot more interesting on the Elf front.

Im am so envious of the "Loremaster of Hoeth" , and terribly frustrated of the new
"banner of the world dragon".

oh well....dwellers still work.
