8th Ed. It's been a while

I was going for light to speed me up, stop his asf and slow him down. Obv I need to be lucky with my rolls for spell, but that's the same for any lore. Blade of realities on my mounted old blood is a character hunter really. Me the two sca vets are in my horde to give it more attacks more than anything. As someone said I need to protect the flanks, was gunna do that with 3 sallies on each side

Yeah, definitely. The only thing that I don't like about Life is that the rest of the spells are rather defensive. And against an opponent like HE, you need options to take them out. If you don't draw Dwellers, you're in trouble. Now you could always take the Discipline that gives you ALL the spells in the lore...

And keep us informed as to how it turns out. I'm following this with a good deal of interest! :D

Oh and beware if he takes shadow, Occam's mind razor on elves is ridiculous. (ST 10 Elves)
definitely save a dispel scroll for that one.

Yeah I have dispel scroll and the vide, he's taking high magic I think

And you can't loremaster all lores, you used to in 7th, loremaster life was my only ever choice. You can only loremaster high

Right for those interested, I have changed my list, I have beefed up my slann a bit, taken out the old blood and skink priest and added 3 extra scar vets, 2 on cold ones, one with Armour of destiny, one with steg armour. All three with great weapons, Now do I run them in the unit or separate, I was thinking one of each, the steg armour in the unit and the destiny on on his own

sallies not so good
Just keep practicing with them. They take good placement to make the most of (and strategic target selection), but against large squishy units, they are the best weapon we have.

Congrats on the draw... against HE that is a good result. They are a more potent army than we are.

Agreed.
The last tournament I've played in 8th was with low points (760), and in my list there were 2 sallies.
