Recently I’ve been noticing a trend where monsters under between 10-14 wounds are being fielded less and less. Really the only large entities I’ve been seeing are massive entities along the line of maw krushas with the occasional KoS. This may be limited to my local GW but I’m interested if this is a more widespread phenomena.

I see Arkhan, Chaos Lords on Manticore, Griffons, and Stonehorns frequently.

I think it depends on the army and what build your going for. Also local metas... A meta with a Drakfoot Bonesplittaz army running around probably won't play many monsters.
I tend to see a variety of unit types, though more often than not it's hordes followed by maybe one or two big beasts and named/special characters.
Sometimes it's all infantry sized models, but in large blobs everywhere. Which often Trump's monsters that can't do enough damage to force a battleshock, which are in turn surrounded and stabbed to death by stabbas....

Might be my local meta then, as most people are somewhat aware of a few people (myself included) who use big monsters then bring stuff to counter them. Mostly I’ve been seeing huge blobs of infantry, or a few elite models

Good thing nobody has figured out how to counter air striking carnosaurs

naw monsters are fine as wizard said stone horns are the best thing in ogres most of the grater deamons are good the iron clad is mandatory huricaniums and gryphons are every where and the scaven lords are use to,

its really only our monsters that are lacking....
Not surprising, most of our monsters lack rend. But what we really lack is allegiance abilities to back them up. Presumably the new battletome will fix that with mount traits and possibly impact hits to better bring them in line.

Considering my Carnosaur got utterly demolished by a single model from Irondrakes (torpedo guy did 11 damage in a double turn), I'll be using that guy less at least vs Dwarves.

Personally, given how many options we HAVE for Behemoth-sized monsters, I hope we get an extra Behemoth allotment with the new armybook...

Locally I see those Stormcast drake mounts, HPA's from the Skaventide list, the obligatory Mangler Squigs, and I know someone who does an all-squig Gloomspite force with 2 Mangler Squigs, a Collosal Squig, and a Goblobba Squig (those spitty ones).

My thunderquake starhost does fantastically for me but i run 3k point games for my dread saurian xD

@Lizerd. I have a question about buffing my units. Since I have such an holyhuge expensive ostentatious model I have a tendency to make him savage go all out attack and slap him with starlight and the skink starpriest staff. Is that really nessessary? (I know of course it is big dino go chomp) I must of missed something but is there any more spells I could cast on my dread saurian to make him more obnoxious?

You can't make him Savage unless you just mean "scaly boi was savage as fuk!" and not as part of a Thunderquake.

But you could have buff prices around him that do about the same thing. Just miss out on rerolling wounds....

Overall the buffs you apply to your dread saurian are basically the same, and they are highly effective, but be careful and pick your fights, as the dread saurian can get shredded by mass infantry. One thing to also consider is mystic shield. Other than that the dread saurian should be okay against most monsters

I’m envisioning a bulked up thunder quake with the dread being the focus. Dam that would be amazing

Give us something crazy like how the stormcast have the 3 dragon battalion, but let ours be like 4 DreadSaurians.
(Which for just the saurians would be 1680pts to my knowledge)
