AoS Is kiting a viable tactic using the starter set formation

Hey everyone please excuse me if there is a obvious reason this wouldn't work as I have yet to roll my moon dice in anger.

On the start collecting formation it allows you to pick a unit and choose an anchor and reposition around that model could you use this as a core tactic on a more shooting based force to essentially shoot and retreat?
 
It only applies to what's in the starter box so afraid not, all battalions will tell you what has to go in them for you to be able to use it e.g. eternity starhost you have to have an eternity warden and 3 x units of guard.

It would be an amazing ability for shooting troops though!
 
If you're interested, the Saurus Oldblood on foot has a command ability that does about the same thing and can be used on every Seraphon unit within its radius IIRC. Gives you a few extra inches of movement, and can be fun with speedier infantry like Skinks.
 
Yep the oldblood on foot is what you are looking for if you wanted to try it :)
