Blog Imrahil's Paint and WIP log

Long before the, above shown, resin banner bearer I had bought a metal version. With this model I had experimented with some NMM, nothing serious but just toying around with the paints that I had at the time. In the end it did not quite match the rest of my Minas Tirith army so it was set aside for a long time.

Resently I dug it up again and decided to strip the paint of. I just wanted to show you guys(and for me to find it back later) how this is going.

Model before:

Model after 7 days soaking in paint stripper, brushed off under running water.

It will need a couple of days more on paint stripper to be fully clean of paint.

I have bought a new toy, hobby related.
At a secondhand stall I found an old Sigarcase. This one was in pretty good shape.

Storing your beloved Middle-Earth Battle Companies - there are only a few models in each and no monsters, such a luxury case would be perfect for them!

Good guess, but the box is a little bit to small(the depth isn't showing very well on the picture) to keep them neat.

It could be the right depth for GW Dice, or it could be painted up as a display stand, but my guess is five Dybbuk, one box, a daemon/ghost reality show for profits, and also to haunt your opponents on game day.

Time to give you all an update on why my hobby progress has slowed down for quite a while now.

As I have mentioned before, from the end of March onwards we have been undergoing a bathroom renovation. Meaning breaking down all the old stuff up to the bare wood ceiling and concrete walls and floor. To build it up anew.
The contractor(one person company) was doing the new layout of pipes and support structures for the bathroom furniture. This was going fine.
But then it was time to work on the finishing works, tiles and leveling the floor etc. This went a bit sloppy for our taste and we confronted him about it.
Somehow he wasn't used to this and couldn't handle our critics very well. After 4 days of work he just left and did not come back.

This ment we had to finish the whole thing ourselves. Luckily we had a good amount of help from family and friends, but due to the limited time I had to work on it (I could not get more days off from work, due to deadlines) the renovation stretched for longer than we had hoped for.

Now I can say that after almost 6 weeks of labor the bathroom is finished. Time to clean all the duat in the house and set my hobby stuff up again.

Hopefully you at least got a partial refund for the undone work.

To be honest I like the look of the old one better, as an appreciator of more traditional room aesthetics, but it's your bathroom and so long as you and your Mrs are happier with the new design then it was money well spent. The 'His and Hers' washbasins in the new one are a nice touch!

And you're not alone in having problems with one-person contractors, we had a one-man contractor in to replace our boiler and he made a right hash of it, taking several days to get it all done, spending half the time on his phone or clearing off to 'buy additional equipment/materials' down the DIY stores (when surely he should have bought it all before starting the job?), leaving a great mess once he had finished and buggering off without doing anything to help clean up. Never again.
