I am sorry to inform that due to circumstances beyond our control, the main domain is no longer pointing to the forum. Please look below for more information.

During the period of transition to our backup domain, we would greatly appreciate any help in letting people know that the forum is not gone and that it can be accessed through http://www.lustria-online.com

This can include informing other forum members you know, letting other Warhammer communities or sites that link to us know etc.

Also, if you notice any issues on the forum on the backup domain, please let us know by adding a comment as well.

With the current circumstances, I feel it is only fair that the community receives the full background story regarding the main domain and why it is outside the control of the community.

We took over the community back in August 2013 when the old owner "Sammy the Squib" planned to shut it down. The only thing that was not transferred over together with the forum content was the domain. The plan was that it was to be transferred to us when he could verify we acted in the interests of the community.

In the beginning, things went along good, that is until we launched the new forum design and software. At that point, things turned sour as "Sammy" did not approve/like the update. To this date, I still do not know why.

Over the years, we have tried to purchase the domain from him several times to no avail.

In hindsight, I guess we should have transferred the forum away from the main domain earlier. I just did not believe that "Sammy" would decide to "shut down" the community he created instead of transferring the domain to us or someone else that cared for the community.

Thank you guys so much for keeping the forum alive, I was worried the site might be gone for good. Luckily this isn't the case!

If you require donations I believe many a member would be glad to help keep our forum running for many years to come!

If the domain is now unpaid for and thus free, could we not purchase it to restore the domain name?

we should, given what you can currently see on the domain it should be up for sale.

We will try to get it, the problem is that when a domain expires it is not put up for sale right away.

Depending on what domain registrar it was purchased at, there can be a 20-45 days grace period from it expire until it is set up for pending delete, and then it takes another 5-10 days normally before it becomes available for registration again.

Perhaps a few of us should gather together and shut this Sammy down :punch:

Sorry... just a moment of Chaos taint... composure has be regained.... somewhat

Phew, got worried earlier when I couldn't come on earlier. Glad to see everything is still mostly alright.

I think we're mostly intact. Maybe a little shaken but that's not generally an issue

Thanks for doing what you can @The Red Devil

This question is moot if we do wind up getting the old domain back, but if we keep the current one is there an easy way to "update" all the old links spread throughout the forum? @Scalenex is probably going to drive himself crazy updating the fluff index...

That is a good question, we should be able to do that automatically by a script, so no need for anyone to take that on as manual labor.
