Hey All, long time reader first time poster :D
I am fairly new to Fantasy, used to do when i was younger but only really collected the models. Anyway I have a lil friendly game on the go this weekend with some friends and was seeking the wisdom of some more experienced players. These are the models I have currently have (don't really have time to go out and get more before the weekend) and was hoping if anyone could direct me towards a list I can further learn from while having fun and doesn't too to bad! And any advice to play the list

1 Slann Mage Priest
1 Scar-Vet
1 Skink Priest
54 Saurus warriors (hand weps)
32 Skinks (Javs)
32 Skink skirms (blow pipes)
6 Chamelon Skinks
8 Cold Ones

I think we are gonna play a few games but around 750 or 1000pts, I couldn't really say what my preference is yet as I haven't played a proper game yet.

Thank you for any advice for a 'newbie' list

(also a note to add, this is only a friendly game so its not gonna be a what ya see is what they got but it would be nice if its as close as poss ;) )

G'day, welcome to the board!

1000 points is quite small, you won't really be able to fit a lot into it. LM definitely enjoy full power at 2k or more when you can easily take a Slann. However, its a good starting point for a battle.

Take the charmeleons. Make sure you use their scouting rule; they have the potential to destroy warmachines on turn 1!
Take the priest so you get a taste of magic. They're not great, but they're good enough in small battles.
Maybe take the scar-vet to boost the potential of a unit, but he's not essential.
Take 1-2 units of 10 skink skirmishers with blowpipes for support.

Fill the rest up with saurus! I don't have my book here, but if you can get 2 units of 20 that would be great. Otherwise go as low as 18 in 6x3 formation (mainly because you said it was a friendly game) or if you can't fit two units in, just take one unit at 24+ models.

The first thing you want thats not on your list (or get a proxy for) is a salamander or two. They are very good support in any army, I'd definitely suggest taking one if you have something on a 40mm base you can use for it.
