Agree. Slow pace is not the problem. I think a LOT of modern movies are hurt by their fast pace. I even think it is their greatest downfall actually.
 
The Princess Bride has rather good pacing all things considered. I would say it has mostly aged poorly due to cultural shifts. Still love the movie though. The ROUS effects are certainly dated.

I'm not saying faster pacing is necesarly better (or worse for that matter, there's a time and place for fast pacing as well). I mean that the difference compared to modern story telling is so big it's jarring and ends up feeling wrong. Or at least it's something I frequently notice when I watch old movies or tv-shows, a lot of it feels like it's being dragged out cuz it just plays far slower than what I've been conditioned to expect from modern movies and t.v.

Consequently a lot of them seem to have aged "badly" where what's really happenend is that I've been taught to have very different expecations compared to the expectations I had when I watched these as a kid.

I mean it's older than me, which I knew, but it feels weird that the 80's are already over 3 decades ago...

I appreciate the sentiments but it sneaked up on me because I don't pay much attention to my "like" count until someone flags me here. Scolenex takes his like's very seriously. He is concerned that bad things will happen if his like count ever falls behind his post count. I probably don't help because I have never liked one of his posts and visa versa.

When I was posting a gazillion tactias we didn't even have a "like" function. Imagine how many likes I would have if we had the like function before the 8th edition book came out.

I do pay close attention to my favorite. When it comes to the dopamine hit one receives from a "like" I much prefer likes on indexes, fluff pieces, or my fantasy world building thread than memes.

I get a much bigger warm and fuzzy when I get a like on a meme I constructed as opposed to one I found. Everything is relative.
