Does anybody know any non-Games Workshop modelling companies (Gamezone, Reaper etc. etc.) that do humanoid lizard armies? Or any models that roughly fit the descriptions of Salamander units in Unchartered Empires? I just thought it would be a good idea to build up a body of knowledge on here to provide choices if someone wanted to build a Salamanders army.

I'm envisaging replies either being links to the humanoid lizard army page of a modelling company's website and a few pictures of their work as examples, or a link to a specific model and the suggestion as to what it could be used for in the Salamander army list. If people could keep discussion to a minimum it would be appreciated as it'll make it easier to scroll through and see all the options available.

Salamander Unit: Greater Fire Elemental
Manufacturer: Reaper Miniatures
Model: Large Fire Elemental

D&D miniature and reaper have many resptilian humanois that might be used, and you can always justify differences in style by saying that your army include many rarer subspecies, like the arkosaurs.

In D&D you have not only the lizardmens, but also the troglodites (thinners, might make good young bloods) some smallers skink likes usually found with bows or javelins, and the blackscales are lare ogre sized lizardmen (so tyrans), and then you also have the yuanti (snake peoples)

Salamander Unit: Various
Manufacturer: Reaper Miniatures
Model: Reptus Army (from their game 'Warlord')

N.B. It is quite hard to tell the size of the models as they do not detail the base sizes on the product page.

Salamander Unit: Kaisenor Lancer / Ancients on Rhinosaurs (steed only)
Manufacturer: Gamezone Miniatures
Model: Predator Hero (from 'Dark Elf' model list)

N.B. Steeds can be purchased without riders (scroll down on page to 'Accessories'). Also, Gamezone miniatures produce no humanoid lizards, so riders are required to be purchased elsewhere.

The gamezone mount being bigger than the GW cold ones, it can also make a very good Rhinosaur, as already discussed in another thread.

I just bought myself some of these guys to make the Ember Sprites, Found them really cheap on ebay, once they arrive I will post a picture

Salamander Unit:
Ember Sprites

Also note that the Mantic Salamander kit come with small flames that can be used to decorate the bases of your ember sprites.

That sound amazing! Wasn't planning on buying the Mantic models, but does anyone here have the flames and don't need them....

Recieved the first batch of my brand new "Ember Sprites" today in the mail, and man I have to say I'm chuffed to bits, THEY ARE JUST PERFECT

They are even smaller than a Skink, and they look amazing, check it out next to a Saurushero and a Mantic zombie (sublime miniatures those) I bought for my next project:

I will be basing 3 of those (they have two different poses) in each 40x40 base, so I will need 9 for a regiment and 18 for a horde, expensive but worth it in the end. Also I'm waiting for a new batch to arrive (I believe they are resin copies, not sure) If the quality is good I will buy the whole lot, I have 4 at the moment and 2 more in the mail, so 12 to go!

Those ember sprites are a very unique and interesting looking model.
