AoS How to use EoG

Good morning people,

Last evening I had my first game with a list using EoG.
Unfortunately, I found placing it rather difficult.
I deployed it within 10 of the Slann to get one more dice and I was too afraid to move it in the second trun still. In both turn I could do nothing with it as I rolled every time between 11-13 and was nothing in range.

How do you guys using it? Are keeping it in the back of moving forward with it to try and deal some mortal wounds?

You used it correctly, just got unlucky. It's rough getting the 10-13 on all your combinations.
