I fought the new Skaven on the weekend...
The Doomwheel, it is very very random and comes down to luck of the dice. It shoots at the closest unit friend or foe, though he may try to restrain it on Ld7, this means you should try to keep his units closer to it for as long as possible. It doesn't get slowed down by terrain and doesn't need LoS to charge so be very careful! It can be extremely fast in getting to your warmachines if you aren't LM or whatever is hidden behind/in woods. Yes it takes damage, but only d3 s4 hits and the thing is t6 so that amounts to nothing.
I ignored it and it really didn't cause much harm. Mostly rolled really low numbers for movement though, which was lucky. Do not let it get into your flank or you are in a world of trouble. At the front its not really much worse than a normal chariot.
The abomination; easily one of the cheesiest things in the entire game, I cannot understand what the hell GW were thinking. Most friendly games you shouldn't see one if your opponent is respectful. One thing that hasn't been mentioned anywhere is that if even a single wound goes on it that is flaming, it cannot roll to come back to life when it dies. So hit it with some fire.
I faced a fairly friendly list though, nothing too overpowered. Ratling guns are a lot less scary now that they need to roll to hit, they do a lot less damage. As usual, flanking the Skaven is key so they lose their leadership rank bonus and all fall apart.
It was a fun and close fought game, but my High Elves prevailed. Getting some revenge from all the hurt in 6th ed with the crappy HE book.
