Hey everyone,

So im heading to a tournament in 2 weeks. It is 2500pts, no comp, allowed to take 1 special char.

I know that this tournament is a huge cheese fest, double S Tanks, bell/furnace/abom combo etc etc there will be a heavy representation of Vamps, Ogres, Skaven, with a smatterin of WoC DE HE and empire. Mostly worried about the big three though. Everyone will be there with all the fun toys they can muster.

So i want to go in with all guns blazing and be as competitive as I can.

I am looking at the following build:

Slann - Shadow Lore. Mystery,Rumination,Becalming,Etheral, Cupped Hands, Divine Plaque, BSB, Banner of Discipline

Skink Priest EotG, Cube of Darkness, Luckstone

30x Saurus FC

30x Saurus FC

10x Chameleon Skinks

10x Chameleon Skinks

10x Chameleon Skinks

3x Salamander + 3 Skinks

3x Salamander + 3 Skinks

2500pts exact

Other option is dropping EotG, Etheral and Plaque and going for a TG unit and/or scar vets.

Between PoS, Salllies with -T debuff and Cham Skinks I believe the Saurus and Ancient will be engaged in clean up activities. I am rather scared of cannons though.....

Any thoughts, can you think of any more nasty?

6 salamanders with -T hex... :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop:
That is massive. I love it.

Personally, I don't think I would field 3 units of 10 chams. I would be considering removing a unit or dropping it down to 3x6 chams, and putting in 4 terradons for flexibility (feigned flee and ridiculous march distance). My 2c

Yeah i am hoping my sallies are going to be the stars of the weekend. And with 3 in a pack I can happily charge them into small interceptor/interference units etc as well.

I usually run 3x 6 chameleons in tournaments, but I feel I need the simple ability to pickup and remove cannons etc on any given turn. Like pressing a delete button with dice :) i also dont own any terradons, so Id be worried about being even worse than normal using them lol. So i donno, ill think about it.

Thanks for the comments!

If you need some extra points, you can cut out the extra skinks in the salamander units. There is no need for the extra skinks. The unit shares the handlers, so you have 9 snacks per unit to start with. The handlers do not 'die' until the unit is gone.

I agree, plus 3 skinks on each is a waste. 30 points buys you a lot.
I also think that the priest is safe with dawnstone and dispell scroll.
I never run my Slann out of TG, which means I am almost forced to use life 2 miscasts and I lose... I like the idea of solo slann with 6 salamanders...

I'd also drop a unit of chamos or go 3x6

And I think your missing out on one of the best things about our army, Scar Veterans.

For 96 points (GW+LA) you get a hero with S7 T5. The SV is what usually wins me combat rez and will save your units from getting pasted by monsters S4 isn't gonna wound. Keep the champion in there to save him from challenges if you want.

For cheesiest lists I'ver heard of it a unit of saurus with 4 scar vets being buffed with beast spells for +3 attacks +1 S/T

Scar vets do sound good.

I will drop the extra handlers and take my chameleons down to 3x6 as everyone thinks thats a smart idea.

Should I keep my Steg or swap it for 2 more scar vets? And maybe a few more chams or skirmishers?

Flying steg could be fun. Though flying scar vets could be equally rough. Or 3 scar vets on cold ones.

Higher State of consciousness and Divine Plaque of protection is a little bit of overkill, U don't need both.
I'd drop DPoP and give Slann Crown of Command (with ethereal it's mindblowing).
Scar vets on CO are great, tough as tank, I played a lot with them and they almost always earned their points back.

Yeah dpop or crown of command is a tough choice.

The dpop though gives very good save against magic missiles etc and magical cannon shots (not many in game i know). I am tad worried with my slann being chased by hexwraiths etc so i dont know if i want him stuck tarpitting units anyway. Is a choice to think about.

I am looking at swapping my EotG and extra handlers for this:

SSV
LA + GW + Venom

SSV
LA + GW

SSV
LA+ Burning Blade+ Dragonhelm+ Enchanted Shield

Id have to ditch 2 chams for the points for these guys as well. They would add some serious muscle to the Saurus warriors. But im wondering if burning aligntment and portent warding + ancient steg is more useful.

Choices Choices!! What to do???

Dragon helm and enchanted shield take up the same slot. Also enchanted shile dcost 15 not 5 because our book prices it.

I'd do it. A cheesey tourney will see lots of war machines and your EOTG will poof fast.

Also consider deploying your saurus in thin wide rank if he drops tons of mortars.

In the unit with 2 scarvets (if there is one) I'd take a 96 pts SV (just GW and LA) and the second one I'd take with sword of the hornet (ASF), shield + LA (or gamblers armor).

So you have a guy to take/give some challenges.
Also consider dropping the champion from the unit of saurus, lets you have your chamos back.

So updated list

Slann - Shadow
Runination, Mystery, Becalming, Etheral
Cupped Hands, DPoP,
BSB Banner of Discipline

Skink Priest
Scroll

The Three Stooges.

Scar Vet
LA + GW + Venom

Scar Vet
LA + Shield
Sword of Hornet

Scar Vet
LA + Shield
Burning Blade of Chotec

30x Saurus FC
30x Saurus FC

10x Chameleon Skinks
10x Chameleon Skinks
10x Chameleon Skinks

3x Salamander Pack
3x Salamander Pack

2497pts

Im liking the look of this. Heaps of different tools. Burning SV + GW SV in one block to hunt monsters and Hornet SV in other for "easy" challenges. Also gives me 2 Magic weps for hurting Hexwraiths.

Only thing I can think of is drop 3 saurus and 1 champion and find 2 more points so that I can afford 10 Skink Cohort to accompany the Slann for LoS. Or I could use 48pts to further pimp the three stooges eg armor potions etc.

Any comments?

Thanks for the feedback so far!

If you keep the slann close to a saurus block you'll get the 4+ LoS would be something.
But if you do put the slann in a block of skinks then your can defintely drop divine plaque (thats the shooting protection one if I remeber)

Those are the old prices for 7th Edition Rules. New Price for 8th is 5 Points. Great Deal.

Sadly the FAQ states that we have to use the point values listed in our army books. :(

I can drop the cham units down to 6 ea and put in 2 units of skink skirms.

Would gain 8 extra models on table and 16 shots per turn. But at a lower BS and non scouting. Also it would reduce the deadliness of the cham units?

Potentially good trade off or not?

Well that is Dumb... I will choose to ignore this rule. It's clearly what the Old Ones would have wanted.

Slann
Mystery, Rumination, Becalming, Etheral
Cupped Hands, Divine Plaque of Protection, Dragonbane Gem
BSB + Banner of Discipline

Skink Priest
Dispel Scroll

Scar Veteran
Light Armor, Great Weapon, Venom of the Firefly Frog, Dragon Helm

Scar Veteran
Light Armor, Burning Blade of Chotec, Enchanted Shield

28x Saurus Warrior
Hand Wep + Shield
Musician + Standard Bearer

30x Saurus Warrior
Hand Wep + Shield
Full Command

10x Skink Cohort

10x Skink Skirmishers
Blowpipes

10x Chameleon Skinks

10x Chameleon Skinks

10x Chameleon Skinks

3x Salamanders Hunting Packs

3x Salamanders Hunting Packs

2492

Basically -T Hex big units and pulverize with Salamanders. Pit anything I don't like the look of. Blow away WM's with Cham Skinks. Wipe up with Saurus fighting debuffed foes. Obviously my strategy is more ahhhh subtle than this but those are the major points.

Please give me any kind of constructive feedback you can think of??

Mitch

You could afford one more skink... Just sayin'

Hehe :)

The one thing I was thinking of:

If I pulled the 12 Chams, I'd mount the 2 scar vets, 1 more skink cohort. Champion, 3 saurus. Seem like a good trade off?
