AoS Hoarfrost question

I was reading up on the order artifacts and was looking at the "hoarfrost". When it wounds and the model is not killed,it gives it a -1to hit for the rest of the battle.
I was thinking, if you would give this to oxyotl for example in big battles and you hit for example a maw krusha a couple of times before it reaches your army you could make it so that he hits on a 5+.

Could this work?

No,there is another artifact thats called "blinding light" or something and that is the -1 to hit on your hero holding it and that is the 1 per battle artifact.
Hoarfrost adds to a weapons stats like "relic blade".

Is there something where i can find the answer to the fact that it stacks or not? Could be verry nice to make the hardhitters miss almost everything :p
Becaus it doenst say you can't use it twice on the same target

This could be FAQed. It's an interesting question, let's see if more experienced players already know the answer !
 
Definitely doesn't stack.

"If an enemy model suffers any wounds from this weapon and is not slain, subtract 1 from its hit rolls for the rest of the battle."

The fact it says "any wounds" suggests to me that regardless if you inflict 1 or 100 wounds, you just subtract 1 from the hit rolls.

It suffers wounds so -1
Next turn it suffers wounds again sooo... again -1 ? :p

No, if that was the case it would read, "Each time an enemy model suffers wounds from this weapon and is not slain, subtract 1 from its hit rolls for the rest of the battle."

I figured it stacked, making it an excellent monster hunting weapon. Otherwise it seems pretty lacklustre.

Still pretty good against enemies with lots of attacks, take the coven throne with its 25 attacks, all of those at -1 to hit is going to save you quite a bit of bother. Good for heroes like the oldblood who don't dish out a great deal of damage.

True, but it's very specifical.
And anyway, when you concentrate on a target, it's because you want to see it dead, if not in the same turn you attack it, at most in the following turn.
 
Also, it seems to work too well against models with abilities triggered by a 6 to hit, since it gives them an eternal -1, like the Stormcast "Burn to ashes" or the Mortarch's spirit claws, right?

It is insanely effective against those for that very reason!
