8th Ed. help with my list please

hi all,

got a game against chaos deamons this week at 1500 points, i have never faced deamons before so should be fun. I have yet to use a slann in my first 2 games as lizardmen and am thinking of fielding him against the old enemy for this one. I have no tg cos i dont see them worth the points cost would you guys field a lomne slann against deamons or is he just asking for trouble. i could maybe keep him next to some skinks so they get look out sir or could even put him in a unit of saurus,

other option is leave him at home and take a scar vet general and go character light and have a few skink hordes running around.

any advice would be great and i apologise for the grammar and spelling

I would definitely avoid a Slann in 1500 points. He would be able to be about 370-380 points max at 25% of 1500, and thats not really a whole lot. Go character light, though a priest might not be a bad idea so you don't waste those 2d6 PD every turn.

I would go with a large unit of saurus maybe 20, or 25 in a 5 wide unit with a standard and musician. I know that it costs a lot but you will have a unit that will always be steadfast so testing on leadership 8, bc he defiantly won't have anything with that many ranks! I would leave out the champ bc he's just gonna get killed in a challenge or singled out and killed and in this small a game those points could be used elsewhere! You defiantly want a priest too maybe with the plaque of topek that extra spell can be big! I would also go for a unit of terradons, just to do a bombing run with those rocks on his flamers, which he will most likely have, flamers just murder skinks, so deal with them early if he has them!I would also take a few small units of plain skinks formed or with a krox to protect the flanks of the big unit! May the old ones be with you!

many thanks for all the advice, i was thinking of going character light anyway and you guys have convinced me thats the way to go. unfortunately i cant use terradons just yet as i only have 2 of them. i think i will take your advice on the big block of saurus and then i will take the 2 units of 25 skinks to protect the flanks. That with the chamelean skinks and another unit of 10 skirmised skinks to hassle his flank.

The stegadon is my other concern it seems a large amount of points to be using in a 1500 point game but i have just bought the model so would be nice to use it. From what i have read i will try and get my skinks into his bloodletters as they have 11 high str attack so should keep him busy for a while and try and use my saurus on his flamers or deamonettes does that seem sensible? and can youy think of another way of getting rid of his flamers? are they immune to fire attacks?
