AoS Hello again everyone!

Hey has it become possible to take Skinks + Krox in the same unit? I'm not seeing anything saying whether I can or can't.

I wrote up a guide on running Skrox (regardless of whether the combined unit from 8th edition is still supported), and I think I remember someone saying that something had been chaged to support it...

They aren't part of the unit, but they are buffed by being in proximity to a unit of Skinks.

Ahh ok! That works too. There are benefits to them being separate, in any case. :)

I think the Kroxigor have more range with their weapons too, so they can attack over the skinks and essentially be in the second rank like in 8th

This only really helps if the skinks are charged though. Even with the reach all units have to finish a charge with 1/2" of the enemy unit.

Remember me?

A few years back, I was pretty active on here in the time of 8th/the changeover to Age of Sigmar.

I drafted a number of tacticas/resources before fading out as life stuff took over. I think I wrote those back in 2016 or 2017?

I'm back for a bit! I'm curious about the state of the game, the state of Lizardmen, any coming updates, and so on.

Back then, there was no structure for balancing games. I used to go by wound- & battalion-count. Has that changed?

Any major rules changes? Blistering errata? Huge meta shifts? Where can I find that stuff?

Hopefully they didn't change pile-in! Those formations were beast.

Anyway, fill me in!

Hope y'all been well.

Welcome back, if I recall you were off travelling in a campervan?

Got another question:

What's up with 'Lizardmen?' I see them in the WHAoS app, but are they useable? Are they being phased out? BattleScribe seems to lack data for the 4 units that remain (Chief, Prophet, Stalker, Swarm).

I'm bummed to see that the Stalker is no longer summonable (and that its Master Hunter feature would no longer function immediately) -- but is it even available for play anymore? Would I add it as an ally?

The ones under "Lizardmen" are legacy models. They do have AoS warscrolls, but you will notice that they lack the Seraphon keyword, and they don't have point values.
So they're not usable in a matched play army.

They are limited to narrative/open play.

Btw if you are into narrative play, there are warscrolls for all kinds of old units, including old named characters and so on, in a downloadable PDF. I forgot the name though... standby...

Edit:
Warhammer Legends it was:

Bah! I suppose I'll deal. :p

Summoning is a big, big deal. Like the nutshell view (admittedly I'm new to seraphon, but been playing sigmar since it came out.) is that for every unit we have, someone has the same unit, but better, for the same(ish) points. Bassicly army wide. However, because we're so unbelievably mobile, and can summon, and can stack buffs... What you end up with is a situation where you'll loose every evenly matched fight. But because you can just summon more dudes, you ensure that your never fighting a fair fight. Then, you can keep your guy's safe via teleports and magic mobility. So... To equate this to chess...

You start out with 1 rook, 1 knight, and 1 bishop. And 3/4 of your pawns. However, any two of those can just teleport. And so long as your king's not in check you can promote 1 pawn per turn.

Makes every game feel like this:
Set up: "I got this"
Turn 1: "damn... No, I don't... I hope I brought lube"
Turn 2: "if I can just make it 3inches to the left I might have a snowballs chance in hell to win this. I got the objective tho."
Turn 3: "all my heavy hitters are dead, and how my troops grind on a on I don't understand... It's all over"
Turn 4: "and when the light breaks over the hill on the third day... Gandalf shows up with the riders of Rohan! Eat face new battle tome sillyness!"
Turn 5: "now... If I can just get three inches to the left... I can win by 6 instead of 3"
