Riddle me this batman:

You have a unit of javelin wielding skinks in close firing range of their target unit.

You have got some lazy power dice and the option of casting either;

☻Wyssan's Wildform - increase the strength of those javs to 4, reducing the target AS by one and increase the odds of a non poisonous hit getting through the toughness barrier

OR ☻Hand of Glory on ballistic skill - increase the number of non poisonous hits by 50%

☺What would you auto choose?
☺What target or range variables would change your mind?
☺When would you choose to boost HoG?
☺What if you had Harmonic convergence (re-roll ones) or Enchanted Blades of Aiban (+1 to hit, magical, armour piercing) as other spell options?

Guaranteed +1S/T over a d3 roll that may well give you not much of a boost.
You're at close range so you'll be hitting on 4s anyway which is good enough. Then your skinks are S4 for the ensusing s&s and S4/T3 upcoming combat.

Even with the other spell options, I think I'd still go with Wildform.

It's not really much of a riddle since you can math your way out of it. Personally I'd find it too much trouble for something as situational like this

I do, however, think that most of the time Wyssan's Wildform will win this one. Against T3 with no armour save it'll be equally beneficial to gain +1 BS or +1S, however the minute you add any kind of armour save Wyssan's Wilform will win due to affecting two factors (tougness AND armour) while +BS only affects a single factor (To Hit).

Then there's the obvious follow up - what after? Well if we're going to take a charge the +S (and toughness lul) will help in close combat where as the +BS is now suddenly useless.

Usually though I wouldn't augment skink anyway though

Hand of Glory seems better placed on Blowpipe Skinks honestly.
Also Wyssan's brings an additional boon in form of +1 T.

Unless the variation was Light of Battle on some suicidal Skinks in way over their head, but that's a pretty rare situation.

Couldnt this be the basis of a crazy deathstar unit, a massive unit of Skrox plus characters with a slann in the back, while you hope for Okkams? Maybe Ethereal slann with Forbidden Rod? Might be very strong when it happens

Yes, it certainly is using a sledgehammer to tap in a nail. I can however totally imagine situations where this is totally necessary. Just consider those skinks as a mobile canon, which will come in handy if you are up against heavily armored flying characters that will run circles around your cowboys and temple guard.

You are casting Okhams in skink cohort horde with melee poison upgrade.

20 shots at S9 = mayhem.

Will they risk to charge and another 20 s9 shots in s&s? Answer is no.

Although you can lower the Toughness to make s3 javelins harmful..
We should double check the combo Arkadon + Shadow. As you can shoot into ongoing combats.
