Always causing chaos. ;)

You realise, assuming it isn't a deliberately misleading clue (are there any other factions that big hats might be a clue for? Nagash's model certainly has one that is clearly trying to rival the Dawi-Zhaar) it'll be for Age of Sigmar, yes? They've been teasing Chaos Dwarfs making an appearance this latest edition from the start.

Not that that'd stop you from repurposing them for your own needs. :p

Certainly looks promising... and the mention of big hats certainly sounds like they'll be following the 4th Edition and/or Warhammer: Total War aesthetics in the models rather than going with either of the avant-garde previous ones they've had for AoS (in the Warcry warbands), which is great for their use in Warhammer Fantasy too. Indeed I wonder if there will be any half-deliberate attempt to make much of the stuff usable in the TOW 'Legacy' list too, as in the past they've allowed previously AoS-specific stuff (like Boingrot Bounderz as opposed to standard Squig Hoppers) to cross over to TOW where appropriate.

Exciting stuff!

It could definitely be for something other than Chaos Dwarfs, but the clue does fit with a potential Chaos Dwarf release. As you said though, it could be something else entirely.

In the event that it is Chaos Dwarfs, that will be a good win. My army is pretty much fully set as is, but it's never a bad thing to have more options available out there. As of yet, I have not purchased any of the Blood Bowl Chaos Dwarfs, but I was happy to see them released anyways. The release would have to be something pretty special for me to purchase it. My Warhammer collection is in a very good place.

I completely missed the existence of the Armater in Warcry... fortunately, Warcry isn't typically indicative of the greater factions they're representing, but sub-cultures.

What are the top guesses of what we might see in the big preview show? Any lizards on the horizon?

Probably not any lizard reveals. But if I was feeling hopeful I'd suggest that maybe we'll see new temple guardians, as they do need to be updated to match the saurus update we have had. At the moment, temple guards do not look impressive when standing next to their less elite cousins.

Alas, I have a feeling we won't actually see anything lizard related for another year or two.

Despite my earlier comment, I do think the Chaos Dwarfs are about to have their Age of Sigmar debut. I've just learnt to expect my expectations to have been deliberate mislead.

Outside of AoS, a second wave for Grand Cathay in the Old World. Maybe a teasing early reveal for Kislev.

And in 40k... Erm... Not a clue. I'm so behind on 40k I don't know what's out and what isn't right now, never mind having the first idea about what might be revealed.

That would be pretty rad. I'd love to see them updated. They should be the crème de la crème of the Saurus; only the very best to protect our Slann.

Maybe a teasing early reveal for Kislev.
That would be intriguing. I wonder what Games Workshop cooks up for them. I'm also kind of curious just how many new Old World factions they will release over the next few years. The Old World seems to have so much fewer factions than Age of Sigmar or Warhammer 40,000. It's obviously a much newer game, but I'm curious if it will at least approach the other games in the long run.

given that the 3rd edition line included the likes of a Cathayesque chaos dwarf and one that was basically a head on legs.
There are only two true WHFB Chaos Dwarf lines:
  1. Forge World line (8th edition) + Hellcannon Crew (6th edition)
  2. Big Hats (4th edition)

Aside from Warhammer Proper, we've also got the newly released Blood Bowl team, who are also pretty cool.

Everything else is heresy.

Nah. 3rd edition line has fair number of good ones mixed in it. I only pointed out the outlier sculpts to point out the variety the 3rd edition run had. In regards to the 4th/5th edition ones, I always thought the big hat thing was a bit ridiculous. The Forgeworld ones were cool though.

The Forge World ones are easily the best. My collection is comprised entirely of them (and a few hellcannons). That said, the big hats have an extremely devout following over on the Chaos Dwarfs Online discourse. I don't really see mention (and especially not collection, play, painting) of the earlier ones.
