GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

8jzjzw.jpg

My hopes and dreams have come true! The Dawi are here at last!

I honestly thought I had enough Dwarf command figures, but those new plastic Lords, particularly the one on Shieldbearers, are really challenging that assumption!

And great to see the Dwarf and the legend that is Ungrim Ironfist make a return, along with Doomseekers and the Goblin Hewer, presumably as part of a Slayer Army of Infamy.

Interesting to see the 8th Edition plastics are already going to appear in TOW alongside the returning older stuff - presumably this means they'll be withdrawing from the Cities of Skubmar range for AoS around the same time.

As for the other releases, from the AoS announcement video I noticed there will be a plastic Warlord on Brood Horror coming plus plastic Jezzails and probably new more expensive Clanrats that look no different to the previous sculpts :meh:, and it seems GW has pinched a Mantic idea for a new Skaven War Machine:

So I'll be looking forward to seeing what the rat boys get in July time.

Interesting that AoS is getting a full rewrite already after only 3 Editions (though I'm not surprised because 3rd Edition was stupidly bureaucratic from what I knew of it). Sounds like it'll follow a lot of what has already been tried out in 10th Edition 40K.

Not interested in the Warriors of Chaos character, though the reptilian mount looks good (might work as an alternative quadrupedal Carnosaur to boot).

The Chaos Lord sculpts for 40K are decent but rather unnecessary given there are already plastic Chaos Lords for CSM anyway.

The Sylvaneth warband for Warcry is gosh-darned ugly (apart from the Dryads which are OK), and their Ossiarch opponents continue to follow the wrong one of their two face design aesthetics.

And GW continue to indulge their Cities of Sigmar and Vampire Counts obsessions in Underworlds :wtf:. The Flesh Eater Court warband is particularly unnecessary and pretty much retreads what had been done before in their previous Warband, except with one of them having wings... shocker!

Oh, and some better Votann sculpts with more beards and some dedicated Brood Brother sculpts for Genestealer Cults are both welcome.

There's already a Codex leak:

well that's just weird.... really curious how the hell they're planning on making that into a fullfledged army that isn't an overside killteam, or some weird imperial guard light army.

In fairness; the AoS rules have been a long sequence of bandaids stuck on top of eachother. This was going to be required sooner or later.
And yeah, a bunch of the new rules in 40K seem pretty good for AoS and could fit some of the more obnoxious parts.

I just wish they'd actually release all the tomes in bulk for once. Instead of this stupid dripfeed over the course of years. It's frustrating to wait for your update, and it inevitably leads to weird issues of powercreep depending on where in the edition's cycle your tome is released...

Also; can't say I'm a fan of the whole "Sigmar lied" bit. Its far too grimderp.

Anyways; we'll see what this brings I guess.

A total rewrite may be good, or not. If they don't stop the MWs' spam, it will matter little

No new Chaos Termies nor Chaos Raptors.

Neither of which we actually need anyway because the current versions of both those sets are still fine, especially the Chaos Terminators which were only released around 2018-2019.

Or new Chaos Bikers, or Noise Marines, or...

Those certainly are more in need of attention, but overall CSM are in a pretty good state right now with regards to kits.

Probably, but the Chaos Bikers we have at the moment came out in the 90s. They could use an update.

Current Chaos Lord came along with those Termies and he already is getting replaced!

OH!, we are getting dripfed those changes for the new edition of AoS:
  • Wounds characteristics: ¡afuera!. Now we have Health.
  • Range for close combat: ¡afuera!. Now everyone fights as long as they are within 3".
  • Battleshock: ¡fuera!.
  • USR: se queda. Not as many as TOW.
  • Command Abilities in every round.
  • EVERYTHING IS AN ABILITY: move, shoot, fight, cast. Declare step and Effect step.
  • All of this colour coded.
  • Indices (NOT indexes) for free at the start of the edition for every faction.

I know next to nothing about AoS rules, are we looking at these changes as positive or negative? I'm excited to see what the new AoS brings.

Until we actually see the new rules as written, we don't really know.
