That’s what I like to see!

While I had suspected they would return ever since Bretonnian and Tomb King icons started appearing on the initial maps, it’s always great to see GW finally confirm that they are arriving into the game upon its release.

The fact that the new edition of the Horus Heresy has seen largely plastic releases (with only optional bitz packs made in Forge World Resin thus far) also bodes well, suggesting that there’s now some integration between the FW and GW teams, with the latter being happy to cast Forge World-designed models and kits in plastic. Here’s to the possibility of these two fantastic armies returning in plastic in all their glory!

I wonder whether they are planning full redesigns for them or if they’re initially just going to re-release all the plastics last seen in 8th (as that would be the quickest way to get them back into sales again until redesigns can be developed)?

Well, news is better than no news.... but it's absolutely just an oven-warmer of an article. "yes this still exists yes it is still months away from any real announcements"

Yes it still doesn't tell us that much, but interesting to note from the article is that 2023 is Warhammer Fantasy's 40th anniversary - perhaps they're planning to release it as part of a big WHFB birthday bash?

Well that is news, finally!

Grrr, !mrahil

I suspect you guys are probably more excited for it than I am.

Is it really necessary to quote three posts just to coyly imply your low opinion of The Old World :p
I didn't want to leave anybody out. You all expressed a similar sentiment (excitement/hope in one form or another), so my reply pertained equally to each of you. I merely wanted to include everyone in the conversation equally.

For the record I don't have a low opinion of TOW, it's more a neutral feeling. I'm neither excited for it or against it. I'm definitely not opposed to its release though. We really have very little information to rely on... but what little we've been drip fed so far, does admittedly sound good. No real missteps as of yet, although many hurdles still need to be traversed. If I were to try to pin it down accurately, I'd say that I'm pessimistic that it will be good enough to dethrone 8th edition for me personally. That's isn't a low opinion of it though, as I really love 8th edition. Having a low opinion of TOW would imply that I hate it or at the very least dislike it. That simply isn't the case, I'd better describe it as an indifference to it. That said, maybe GW proves me wrong and TOW ends up being a spectacular game that displaces 8th edition WFB. In which case I'd be pleasantly surprised and would view that as a win.

He is just being polite and quote them together in one post ;)

Grrr, !mrahil

Bingo!

I barely can contain my excitement for the old world.
3 years since the first announcement (am i right?), and they are still offering us a map and some drawings. Wow. :meh:

Sorry guys, I really hope tow will be something glorious, but as for now i stand with @NIGHTBRINGER
Yea, they really need a model tease at this point

I guess anything is possible, but I suspect that they will focus on "new" armies.
They've seen how much love to Kings and brittonians get from the total war community. Do you really think they're not going to capitalize on that, especially when the majority of what they have been showing is bertonians, they've shown a chariot, and nothing has been shown for the new armies except for some concept art which was used for Total War Warhammer three kislev

Do they get more love than the other armies? Historically (model-wise), TK and Bretonnia have never sold well.

I see Kislev as most likely release at the onset of TOW. Then possibly Cathay.

Pure speculation though.

If we base popularity on campaign completion in TW 2 we got the following:

  1. HE: 15,3%
  2. Lizardmen: 10,1%
  3. TK: 8,1%
  4. DE: 7,7%
  5. Skaven 6,5%
  6. WE: 6,4%
  7. Vampire coast 5,5%
  8. Dwarfs: 5,5%
  9. Empire: 5,5%
  10. Beastmen: 4,2%
  11. Bretonnia: 3,9%
  12. Greenskins: 3,6%
  13. WoC: 3%
  14. Vampire counts: 2,2%
  15. Norsca: 1,1%
Very Hard or Legendary completion everyone hovers around 1.5-2%, except the HE at 3% and Norsca at 0.7%,

Now obviously this is also skewed a bit by relative difficulty. Norsca, VC & WoC aren't exactly known to be top tier factions with easy campaigns. Similarly, HE is viewed as one of the easiest campaigns.

But based on this I wouldn't say Bretonnia particularly populair, especially considering louen is rather a good legendary lord.
TK does better, though they might also benefit from an easy campaign and no real rivals both gameplay and aesthetic-wise.

Yeah, @Killer Angel I’m still with you and @NIGHTBRINGER on TOW until I see the basic rulebooks. The play system is the most important thing for me.

It actually makes me more apprehensive knowing that two of my favourite factions are on the cards for the game (I own a sizeable TK’s army and I would have gotten Brets if they weren’t so expensive I’d have to sell both lungs and brain to make an army).

If they add Chorfs then I’ll be anxious about it. Mainly that they don’t all get tainted.
