GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

Lol, so true. But perhapse my brother wants it for his army and will I be able to paint it anyway

Grrr, Imrahil
It's a really cool model. My main criticism is that the king is hard to differentiate from the other units. I understand that helps maintain a uniform looking army, but I kind of lose him a bit in the mix.

That is, but the Easterlings are a particular ordened fighting army. So this fits that line pretty nice. Even the King is among the fighters.

His facecover is distinctive though, not outstanding, but distinctive ;)

That reminds me - have you finished painting all those regiments of Wargames Atlantic Persians yet? I'm sure you hoarded and made enough of them to recreate Xerxes' entire army at Thermopylae ;)
No I have not used all of them yet however some of them have definitely gone to other projects.

Cool little AoS model...

I wouldn't mind if they sold that Dragon-looking skeleton in the center separately...

Another Nighthaunt foot hero? He does look interesting, but the Nighthaunt seem to be pretty heavy on the foot heroes already. Hopefully he does something useful.

As for the terrain set, it does look nice. I wish GW terrain wasn't so expensive, otherwise I'd actually get some to use for my games. But I'm wondering if that dragon-flame-skull looking thing is a new endless spell? I'll be really interested to see what it does if it is.

Were they any announcements about new battletomes? That's what I'm really curious about ;)

The Nighthaunts hero should move units across the battlefield. Which is weird (Nighthaunts can already teleport) unless you bypass the 9" limitation.

New codex: both knights (loyal and chaos)

Some good news for Horus Heresy players like myself, apparently they're going to keep the game rules based on 7th Edition 40k going into 2.0.

The Horus Heresy's New Edition Revealed

Warhammer Community said:
We’ve seen the logo, but what’s [Horus Heresy] itself going to be like? The new edition builds on the systems you know and love from your battles in the Age of Darkness. Just as before, it’s based on the classic 7th edition rules for Warhammer 40,000, but the team have made a raft of changes and improvements to ensure that your Heresy-era battles are better than ever. What changes, you ask? We’ll be delving into the rules right here on Warhammer Community a little closer to the new edition’s launch.

This is especially noteworthy, since 8th Edition 40k benefited Horus Heresy in the same way that 4e Dungeons & Dragons benefited Pathfinder.

It still remains to be seen what minor updates they'll implement, mind you. I wouldn't be surprised if the Psychic Powers system gets a massive overhaul, for instance.

All in all, as a game that requires quite a bit of financial investment for just one army (especially in comparison to 9th Edition 40k), it's likely that someone at GW stopped sniffing glue to realize that they can't really afford to alienate the folks most likely to buy their more expensive models.
