GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

The speculation I've heard is that it could be Vampirates... but your point on the hair does seem valid. Then again, @Canas ' point on the skull seems pretty viable too.
Maybe Malerion's shadow corsair elves are also vampires? I mean, dark elves generally like blood rituals, vampires already have some shadow-y powers (turning into mist, not liking the sun). Even if they're not the undead themselves, the gothic vampire-hunter style unit we saw during the tease would probably not be out of place in a shadow-y secret focused faction.

Now wouldn't that be an rather annoying combo, shadow vampire pirate elves? :p

Can we at least agree that it isn't a Dwarf?
Would be funny if it were though.

Well, most of the upcoming preview on Saturday is going to be shite if any of the leaked rumours are true, but something of interest is that a new game is coming to Warhammer:

It's unlikely this will be TOW because GW already said that was going to be years into the future, so I wonder what it will be? My guess is Battlefleet Gothic 2.0 as that's been on the cards for a long time.

That would be cool, will we get a ship in that(or was Battlefleet Gothic the 40K thing with starships?).

On a different note, why are Warcry and Neromundia missing in this list?

Grrr, Imrahil

Battlefleet Gothic is 40K space naval battles, essentially the 40K version of Star Wars Armada. It'd be nice to see it return if the ships are all in plastic (as long as GW sets the game in the present 40K universe and releases new factions quicker than Aeronautica Imperialis, they are being so slow with that one because they keep releasing crap for Adeptus Titanicus in its place)

Necromunda recently got stuff in the form of the Orlock specialists. Maybe GW have given Warcry a rest for a while, especially as they've given Kill Team a rest for a long time and they're giving that some more attention this time.

The hair is too long for Vampires though - all the existing Vampire models are either bald or have hair that only goes down to the shoulders, whereas these models clearly have much longer hair. The only reason it isn’t billowing is because the models are standing still, Elf hair doesn’t have a life of its own ;)

Unfortunately, we got vampires...

i like it. much more exited for this then i am for ....more.... .aelves

I wouldn’t be so hostile to it if it were of a different aesthetic and theme, e.g. of the Vampirates idea that also circulated the rumourmongering scene, as that would have been a nice nod to Curse of the Vampire Coast, but more Hammer horror Vampires, when we’ve got loads in Legions of Nagash which was cast as Vampire Counts 2.0 in the first place... what were you thinking GW?

Aren't you happy with more Nagash's lackeys? :meh:

In fairness, Legions of Nagash is kind of underwhelming as far as it concerns vampires. It has a bunch of old hero models, that don't really fit in with anything. And the troops are mostly just zombies & skeletons.

Making that a more coherent faction with better vampire sculpts, and preferably some vampire troops, would imho be nice. I just hope they actually do something interesting with it besides just a round of updated models.

You know me mate, I want to see Settra and his Legions return to kick Nagash around the Mortal Realms!

If only i could like this more than once...

Yeah, that could work. If we look at soulblight (the common keyword for vampires, IIRC), as "troops" there are only the bat swarms

If they make vampires as actual units, then I guess this will be another "SCE-style/Bonereapers-sytle" army. Meaning, expensive units with fewer tougher troops. At least the vampires seem like pretty solid heroes in the Death faction. I haven't seen Blood Knights in action.

i think it's going to be a mix of expensive vampires and cheep trawls maby with the thirst rule from blood bowl

Possibilities:
- elite vampire troops like SCE.
- troops are young & weak vampires.
- troops are halfbloods/thralls
- troops are fodder undead, but actually vampire themed (instead of generic skeletons & zombies)
- Troops are a mix of halfbloods & full vampires. E.g. the captain model is a full vampire, the rest are halfbloods
- Any combination of the above :p

There's plenty of options without just copying the SCE/Bonereaper approach of an elite army :p

Orlock is old-hat by this point. The newest update was Van Saar with House of Artifice.

Of course it was, thanks for correcting me with that, I lost track :p

Which means the next update must be Cawdor. I hope they do something with them that veers away from the human-Skaven approach they’ve done with the main batch of models.
