GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

More like:

AoS?.... This is Sparta!!!

Or rather, THIS IS FANTASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EVEN BETTER! Well said.

Agreed here. Probably GW's most boring load out since the Eschers became one of the gangs in the Necromunda boxed game. That was pretty awful in itself.
You know that GW has to slip in some SCE and Khorne in among all the interesting releases. Those are their babies.

[WARNING: ranting imminent]

So this is a beautiful picture and all... but how do those things move on land?? Are they swimming or are they flying????

If they are supposed to be swimming, then why are they based on dirt, rocks, and grass? I feel like GW wasted a huge opportunity to make some SUPER characterful based like they are underwater, with deep sea coral, colorful fish, sponges, lava tubes, eels, shipwrecks, etc... they kinda went this direction with those wrecked ships in the background, super characterful, but why make the ground like it could just as easily be home to the empire and the orcs of old? It could have just as easily been some beach/treasure island terrain with palm trees and stuff.

If they are supposed to be flying, again, how does that work? Those turtles are obiously sea turtles, and the eels don't have wings, and the sharks fins are too tiny to be wings. How do they fly around on land?? (granted the answer is probably magic, but still!).

[ranting complete]

That being said, these are some pretty cool looking models, and I hope we wind up seeing some truly unique and beautiful under-da-sea bases in the near future.

[second rant starts here]

To add on to my previous post, here are some "nautical" and "ocean" themed basing ideas (found after a 12 minute google search) that would look better (my opinion) for a water dwelling force.

Water and rocks:

Rocks, coral, and sponges:

Straight up water and stuff bases:

Truly epic water bases with coral, plants, and little fishies inside:

Cool Mini or Not has some cool looking driftwood pieces with their nautical-themed army, and the color tones used on the bases speak more to "under water" than "out in a grassy field" to me:

Simple ocean bases (check out DA BEECH BOYZ for a truly custom orc force):

I will end with a picture of coral for inspiration.

Imagine a deep sea army with bases that looked like this!

I'm pretty sure the answer will be "cuz magic".

The answer is in the fluff pages I posted earlier yesterday.

TLDR: thier mages summon an "ethersea" which means they are essentially turning the battlefield into a semi-permeable barrier between thier ocean domain and wherever they are fighting.
