GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

How do you feel about Fyreslayers? I think they’re great as they are original. True they did appear before in fantasy but only as part of a Dwarf army and not that viable a part. Here in AoS they are a separate army with their own lore and their own stuff.

I would definitely not class Fyreslayers as being original, they are simply WFB Slayers ported over and expanded into AoS. That said, Slayers were wildly popular back in Fantasy so it was a great move for GW to expand them into an AoS faction. I'm sure they are quite popular now. Personally, I think they are okay. The faction has virtually no variation within it. Look at the variation found in Seraphon or even the Kharadron Overlords. So while I am not particularly a fan of the Fyreslayers, I can see why others would be drawn to them. Personally I think the Daughters of Khaine are a much cooler army.

Oh well, each to their own. Some prefer badass Dwarf heroes while others prefer cruel Elven blood worshippers. ;)

But then Kharadron are badass Dwarf heroes too...

This is my issue with Fyreslayers, they all look the same - none of the units really look apart. And even if they did... All they do is hit stuff :D

Fyreslayers need some wizardy dwarves, some war machines, some more fire-based beasties... There's a lot of scope of making it a truly cool army.

Ah, but the thing about Fyreslayers all looking the same is that you can convert ordinary Vulkites into different characters - for instance, remember on my painting blog that I made a unit of fantasy Slayers out of Vulkites with a standard bearer kit-bashed with a Dwarf standard from the Quarrellers box? Well I imagine that humble standard bearer could quite easily pass off as a Battlesmith in AoS because all Fyreslayers look very similar. That’ll save £18 for one mini... :joyful:

The same can be said for one of my old metal Slayers with a single axe rather than two axes - because his one axe can be seen as an axe to be used in both hands he could pass off as a Grimwrath Berzerker. Another £18 for one model saved!

Some more fire-based creatures would look great, perhaps Fire Elementals summoned from the deepest darkest volcanic caverns or baby Magmadroth being similar to Salamanders or something, but war machines would look out of place and wizardy Dwarfs? Wizardy Dwarfs? What game do you think you’re talking about, Dungeons and Dragons? You need to research more into the Dawi my lad!

The Runemaster and Runesmiter look differently from the regular Fyreslayers, more wizardy than anyone else in the army. And also Fyreslayers don’t just hit stuff, they’re not Orcs! They kill stuff in the most badass ways possible!

So I've reconsidered the witch elf snake women.

Ushabti variants, not necropolis knights

You're right, they would make some pretty amazing bowshabti, especially in a Khalida led army. The size probably fits a little better too, as Necroknights are far larger/taller.

My army is a grand host of a numas-quatar copy in mantica for kings of war. I'm damned sure I xac add in the blessed of a snake goddess in there

Are you going to be picking up the snake ladies as soon as they are released? I'm eager to see your painted conversion!
