GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

A pretty lackluster reveal overall. Nothing really caught my eye. The Tzeentch lord is the best of the bunch but likely much too large for WHFB.

a reveal that will let me save my money... for different miniatures. :p

Being that he is a character, an AoS size is fine. It helps the characters to stand out, and gives them presence. And I say that, having two AoS Cities of Sigmar dudes representing generals of my Empire army (one on foot and one mounted). Narratively, I just say that the dude is a giant of a man anyway.

For a Tzeentch character, you think Tzeentch wouldn't wiggle his fingers to make one of his worshippers buff, just to spite Khorne? "Haha, my WIZARD is more buff than your berserker. Suck it, Khorne!"

Lumineth... I'm trying to picture their model range in my noggin (WITHOUT looking it up). I... am actually drawing a massive blank on their model range. Part of that is just my disdain for elves, but even accounting for that... is their range really so unspectacular as to be forgettable?

I suppose the two Lumineth characters look ok. For elves. Bleh.

As to the Bone Reapers... well, at least they aren't MOAR vampires. But I am left wondering "Why?" Give some love to something that isn't Grand Alliance of Death. And isn't a Sigmarine.

Where's the lizard love? We still have derpy Temple Guard! It is a sorry state of affairs when the elite retinue look derpy while the standard infantry look more badass.

It really is. There is some identity to them through the Greco-Chinese motifs they keep using, but the model range is lacking in anything that isn't Vanari (that is, all the pikes, archers and horse-based cavalry), which makes them boring to play with and against.

I get the feeling that Saurus Guard as we know them are going to get axed in our next battletome, and the current Saurus Warriors are going to take their place wholesale.

Popped into my local GW last weekend to check when the store's birthday was going to be, and almost side-by-side in the AoS section there was a box of Saurus Warriors in last edition's packaging and a box of "Saurus Guard" in what appears to be this edition's new packaging. The latter was otherwise the exact same kit as the former.

I was looking at them a moment ago and just thinking... the Greco influence is very High Elves, who are now back in The Old World. And because of that similarity to HE, they fail. They're HEs "taken to twelve" and are all the more bland for it.

Since I doubt TOW will get a Nippon release... why did GeeDubs not go Feudal-Japanese for these guys? They have no Japan-influenced faction. Samurai elves would have been interesting and a great way to separate them from the High Elves. Even before TOW was a thing, this logic would have worked. By having even a passing resemblance to the High Elves, the Lumineth are set up to fail, because it just makes people want the superior High Elves.

Blah... whatever. They're still elves. Bleh.

BOO! Bloomin' Stormcast get options upon options, we have more vampires than I care to acknowledge, but lizard bois get trimmed? At least give us an alternative under a new name, which will inevitably be referred to as the (not)Temple Guard. Just give us something other than a purging of the ranks.

If that comes to be an accurate prediction, it is yet more evidence that being in a position of leadership at GeeDubs requires that you take an initiation-ritual lobotomy.

Also, while we're on models that could use a make-over... Skinks. Don't get me wrong, I still like the current skinks, but they show their age some. Would be nice to see the skinks get the same treatment as their big brothers.

It could be functioned as a new unique Endless Spell for Tzeentch. It feels weird to think of it as terrain when it's so clearly sat on a base like that.

I'm going to sit back and wait for word on what those shards actually are mechanically.
Honestly, a single endless spells would be even weirder. Especially with how they're grouping spells into lores currently.
On the bright side; it could mean they are going they realized this random grouping into lores is just weird to play with.

Meh, while we definitly need actual options, they first need to decide what they actually want to do with us. Temple guard are leftovers from WHF which and GW just can't make up its mind about what they actually want them to be in AoS (or to just bite the bullet and axe them already...). And they're not even the only unit suffering from that kinda problem.

That sucks. So close, yet so far away. That just gives you an excuse to visit this new one!
At that point in time, it was rather humble, from what I remember of the outside of it and from what my friends told me. When I eventually had money and interest to check them out, it was right when they moved the USA HQ to Gen Burnie, MD. Delayed my beginning the hobby by like a year.

Until you try to rank him up, then he is beyond worthless (especially with that wide stance of his coupled with AoS scale creep). A solo M4 foot lord is pretty useless in WHFB.

Vampires are far superior to those bone guys.

Ossiarch have a certain personality
...so do pedophiles, but that doesn't mean that we want them around.

OK, they think it's funny to give Bonereapers some chariots and archers to rip off Tomb Kings... now give us the real deal in remade plastic Tomb King Core choices, GW, now you've had your fun remaking Chaos Marauders...

As to the Bone Reapers... well, at least they aren't MOAR vampires. But I am left wondering "Why?" Give some love to something that isn't Grand Alliance of Death. And isn't a Sigmarine.

Don't tempt them, GW will just fill the gap with more (A)Elves instead :shifty:.

You have to be firm with them and rule out all three of Elves, Stormcast and Vampire shit before they'd even consider giving us anything of interest.

Where's the lizard love? We still have derpy Temple Guard! It is a sorry state of affairs when the elite retinue look derpy while the standard infantry look more badass.

I'd actually debate that... the Temple Guard are fine, the last real legacy of the proper Warhammer Fantasy Saurus aesthetic, and the most recent version to boot, dating from 7th Edition (where the old Saurus Warriors and Saurus Cavalry were from 6th). To me it's the new ones that look ass, with their stupidly wide torsos, tiny heads. fat feet and useless short jaws. I've said it before, they look more like dumb scaly Orcs than the disciplined, ruthless fighting machines Saurus are meant to be. True, the 6th sculpts were looking a bit dated, but they could have just kept that aesthetic - the longer head crests, longer jaws with more teeth, the leaner bodies and limbs - and just sized them up some more to make them more threatening and made the poses more dynamic... but no, they had to continue following the poor Saurus design that started with the Oldblood riding the Carnosaur in 2013, and somehow made it even derpier with the bodybuilder chests.

Ossiarch have a certain personality, but it's one that doesn't appeal to me.
(speaking purely about the models)

While they continue with the failed attempts at rictus grins that make them look more like aforementioned perverts, as far as I'm concerned they don't have one :D

I still can't understand how GW missed that the Mortisan Soulreaper, and later Kainan, had just the right sort of aesthetic to go for - cold, merciless, sinister with no visible mouth - and made more of the rest of the range that still just look wrong
