GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

Unusual that there was no next week preview yesterday, only a post about when the contrast paints are coming.

I’m honestly praying to the Gods right now that GW aren’t just going to use the Games Expo Preview this weekend just to milk the Sylvaneth release that they’ve already covered, because if they do, or if they don’t preview the next army because of it, I’m going to go absolutely nuts with frustration.

Oh chill my lizards channel that cold blooded special rule. I assume this week might have been sylvaneth if not for the delays hence the gap?

Actually I think its likely we will hear about all the things given teasers but no details at warhammer fest. Ex the aironautica game. Not sure what we will hear about from Aos, probably another warcry warband they seem to be in a release em all fast kind of mood? Oh we will probably hear about underworlds season 3 since it got teased. That seemed to be what happened at warhammer fest the stuff with teases going in like the chaos knights and contrast paint got more details.

That's my prediction which I give an out of my ass 67% probability.

Uhmm.... I just read that all glazes are being dropped from the GW paint range!

I am... a bit sad actually. I have all of them and those are among the very few GW colors I am actually using because they are great.

Seems that they want to replace them with the new contrast paints. You see supposed to achieve the same effect by thinning down contrast paints.
I hope that works. I liked how brilliant the glazes looked, almost not darkening at all, just adding color. Very different to shades.

Sad news, I use glazes a lot. Do you know how long they will be available? I might just buy a few extra pots

well that sucks, one of the things I like most about the GW paints is that they have specific paints for specific effects without the need to thin or mix. It helps a lot with keeping things consistent and still getting some of the nicer effects.

Are there any other brands that have something similar to glazes that don't require doing alchemy?

No clue. Probably as long as they last.

I am considering buying a few pots myself, just to be on the safe side for a while.
Some people say that thinned down contrast paints are even better than the old glazes but as I haven't tried it myself yet I cannot tell if that is true.

I heard that Vallejo has some inks that are comparable. Not sure though.

This is one of the things I really dislike about GW. In the long run, you can't rely on their paints because they frequently discontinue them. Vallejo for instance, is far more stable.

Where did you read that?

Doesn’t really matter to me as my paint scheme originated from the old days of simply basecoating, layering, washing and touching up until no colours overflow into areas they shouldn’t. Basic but it works well for battle-ready minis :D

I'd recommend looking into Tamiya's paint line, as they have a respectable selection of transparent paints including pearl, smoke, red, blue, green, yellow, and orange.

Well the UK Games Expo preview has ended. First the good stuff: the Enforcers (which admittedly look good) and the next Warcry gang that @little-myth will probably see heaps of uses for in her Rourvuk Carrion army:

Next the bad news: There was not a bean on anything about a new army, which means GW are most likely going to milk the Sylvaneth release as much as possible. I’m not impressed, for I expected far more.

The enforcers do look cool. Though they look weirdly more elite than regular guardsmen, aren't they supposed to be little more than a police force (and even that is being generous)?

They are, although remember Imperial Guard are sword-fodder, little more than militia that are just given a lasgun and flak armour and sent into the fray. I think the expected lifetime of a Guardsman on the battlefield is several hours.
