GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

Why is it painted in Tau colours?

If truth must be said, a "proper" Tau color doesn't exist, as the color of their suits and stuff is determined by the enviroment, so the same Sept will have different colors in different battlegrounds…
but that said yes, that's not the usual Necron color scheme.

Same for Necrons. I only took a brief look into the book but it seems they can have a lot of colors now.

Fair enough! However, whenever I say Tau colours, everyone has the same colour in mind, the standard GW paint scheme.

A new 40K Warhammer Quest game is coming - Blackstone Fortress - and I’m extremely pleased to see that it looks as though Chaos isn’t the antagonist! We may well be getting a new Xenos race! :woot:

This new race certainly has a War of the Worlds feel to it...

I could see this work a tzeentchian possed robotic thing. But yeah looks neat.

I don’t think so - Tzeentch’s forte is magic and enchantments - a robot like this on the other hand is completely mundane. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be either a race of tripod robots or a race of physically weak aliens who sit inside tripod robots like the Martians from the War of the Worlds.

The sleeckness fits with tzeentch, and so does the colour scheme. Also robots are connected to knowledge and science. Hence why I'd say it'd fit. Beyond that it is rather plain, it'd be a minor familiar or something at most... I'd be surprised if it actually was, but it would work I think.

As for a new race, idunno, GW doesn't seem to introduce many new racials in 40k. Admittadly maybe the succes of some of the newer stuff in AoS has made em eager to try?

They did introduce Genestealer Cults and Ynnari in 7th Edition (although Ynnari are yet to actually have their own unique army), and now that Genestealer Cults is the last mainstream alien race to get an 8th Edition codex as GW have been churning them out so fast, this means that 2019 is really the first year of seeing new 40K factions in full force like they’ve been doing for AoS. Emperor’s Children as a separate chapter, Sisters of Battle (as a proper mainstream faction for the first time) and Ynnari are more or less a given, and I’m really hoping these tripods will be a new alien race in the pipeline.

This has a very Vex-like appearance to it as well.

Might we expect them to have ontological weaponry?

Alternatively, the enslavers are a thing in 40k, so might this be one of them?

Huh? :sorry:

Does that word mean what you think it means?
Some creative liberty may be applied when referring to a gun whose firing mechanism is an ontological paradox.
Vex Mythoclast Weapon Description said:
"...a causal loop within the weapon's mechanism, suggesting that the firing process somehow binds space and time into…"
Also what's a “Vex” ?
The Vex are a semi-robotic enemy faction in the Destiny games whose main gig, aside from the killer robot shtick, is time travel.

mwha, none of those are truly "new" though, maybe Ynnari at a stretch. Admittadly that does still leave a bunch of neat options that do exist in the lore but don't have an army so that works I guess.

Thanks for the info.

I think you’re right and it’s one of these Vex things.

This new game is only going to have one or at most two characters from any one faction though? (Because it’s basically a Warhammer Quest game re-skinned to 40K.)

Emphasis on just the one.

A whole new Vex faction ...unlikely.

Could be that the vex set up shop in the blackstone fortress and this is one of the minions you fight? Time the releases of the race and the quest-game together and it works.
