8th Ed. GW Mispack

I've had a number of times I've gotten GW mispacks. However I was always able to get a store to replace pieces. The problem is now I got something out of print.

I got the Metal Kroq-gar/Saurus on Carnosaur. It was shrink wrapped, and unopened. I got it through an online trade. I opened it up and guess what, no left hind leg. This leaves me in a bit of a predicament since I am in no way a sculptor. Any ideas for a way around this?

Let GW know. I don't believe that "gone out of print" means that GW will no longer support the model in terms of replacing damaged bits. It's entirely possible that they have a couple of those kits lying around - or just some spar legs. Or maybe they'll send you a brand new plastic kit. Stranger things have happened.

If, once GW sends you a replacement, you want to send the old kit to someone who is willing to try their hand at replacing the leg, I'll PM you my address .

GW has decided to be awesome. They are going to replace the kit with a new plastic one, but they want the old pewter one sent to them.

Of all of my potential criticisms of GW, customer service of their model line is not one of them. Have always found them to be useful and forgiving.

Among the jobs I once held at GW was Customer Service. There were times were absolutely KNEW we were being scammed ( 6 kids all on the same street each call in on the same day, each missing a different set of parts from the old metal Carnifex...put them together and you get one complete model), but the guy running GW US directed us to send the parts anyway. It ticked us off that we were letting them get away with something, but the boss had a point. He said that when you compare the pittance it cost us to ignore a few scams to the goodwill (and still pittance cost) it generated by offering such support for the products, there was no reason to deny anyone.


Then, years later as a customer myself, I bought a Witchfate Tor (the $90 tower) (bought 3 actually, wanting to make a pretty elaborate bit of scenery) and it was missing just one small decorative part. I called them up to ask for the part. They collected my address info and the batch code from the kit and said they would send another. I told the guy he didn't know what part to send yet. He said he's send another Witchfate Tor! Pretty impressive.


GW's model support is amazing. Now, if we could just get the same support on the rules.

Update on this. I just received a call from them. They received the kit today, and within 2 hours called me to confirm receipt and let me know it was being processed today.

I log into the GW site and BAM! In my account is the order completely discounted and being processed.

Although I play a lot of 40k due to its local popularity, WFB is a better game by far. 40k has gone down a very strange and frustrating path that I don't see unraveled anytime soon.

This thread makes me wish i had gone more throughly through my models since i have a tonne of unpainted year old Resin models.

Then again i don't think i've found any greater errors on them so far so i'm hoping to keep it that way...

I intend to rebuild a Grey Knights force at some time (They are the Lizardmen of 40k) or possibly when new Tyrnaids come out, if the army wide biomorph comes back, them.

This experience is making me way less worried about buying old sculpts that stores still may have.

The main reason i'm not playing 40K is the price of the models - i know it's basically the same, but here comes the punch - i like the sisters of battle.

Unless sisters get cut into the core models (where i don't think you can say they're at now), i'm not going to play, and tbh i doubt it happening :/

The research i did suggest 2 points of not wanting to get into it.

1. - they're ridicoulously underpowered.

2. - they are more expensive than a gold diamond ring.

I wouldn't say Sisters are 'ridiculously' underpowered, they struggle a little, but no more than say Orks or Tyranids. In actual fact the digital codex actually made them quite a bit better, and a good deal more flexible, add in the even more recent inquisition codex (putting the once great witch hunter army back together at last) and you have a quirky army with plenty of fun tricks (many of which get overlooked in theGK codex because they are over-shadowed by all the OP crap that GK get). Inquisitor with the liber Heresius in a land raider: a scouting Landraider, then chuck in some ultra cheap servo skulls to blockade the enemy from scouting/infiltrating up the table and make any blast weapons you have more accurate.

Battle sisters really aren't as bad as a lot of folks make them out to be, they shoot as marines and with the inclusion of a priest (who is only 3pts more than a veteran superior) they are fearless and have hatred. Scouting melta dominion squads are still excellent choices and so is the Exorcist. Add in a firestorm redoubt to cover your AA needs and away you go.

Glad they're not underpowered so much as i've read!

Now i might even consider going to buy my first 10. After all now, for the same price of buying them 1 at a time, i can get ten in a one click collection... well it's an improvement. still metal though.

The Sisters right now are kind of... weird. I agree that "ridiculously" underpowered is overstating it, but they aren't terribly competitive, either. The fact that now their powers are all once (or twice) per game does a lot to limit the cool factor, IMO.

Just a quick comment. My friend started collecting the Sisters. He bought a box of normal marines and a box of those Dark Eldars that have female models, I'm not sure what they are called. He then combined the marine legs to Eldar torsos, added some pieces from marine box and got a bunch of Sisters. According to him, it was much cheaper than buying the metal sister models. And at least I thought they looked quite neat.
