And mine is just the backsite of one of my flashcards... I need to overthink that...;)

My signs gone from my bad handwriting - to my bad drawing to my bad paint skills >.< there's a theme no matter how much my idea is I can't execute it too well on my own at the moment. I was going to use Substant painter to spray some gold and some cool effects but I realised Its a 3D painting programme I couldn't find out how to import my paint image to it :P so I'm resorting to Gimp trying to understand layers on a headache user interface.

If I had a 3d modelling programme i'd attempt making the glyphs with it but I have no idea of how long that takes or how hard it would be - but the end goal is just making it nice enough to print off :)

Looks good. What program are you using to create those glyphs?

Paint >.< fun fact the original drawing I did I used Warhammer bases to draw straight lines and shape the glyphs so they fit in the same space to scale them all. But for the Paint I made squares of 11x11 boxes on the grid and then just made them inside it, which is why the circles on the date have kind of squared off edges which is annoying.

I think this is looking nicer already - Sorry for spamming the page with it - If I can get it as a concept Logo then maybe someone could improve upon it for a nice competition representation - Of course we need the translation added still not all of us (including myself) can read Lizardmen? Oldoneian?

Edit: The original concept has the serpent looking glyphs in shinnier gold - as indicated by yellow colouring in on my drawing verison. I'll attempt improving this tommorow

I have a question. Is it alright if I enter a model for both the conversion and painting if it isn't on an official base. My base model didn't come with one, so I had to greenstuff a rather wonky one, and I was wondering if that was allowed.

If you still want to use SP I could probably help you out :) I have all the 3D software and such needed to set it up!

I need to ask a question about images and I have example images.

f) Images must not be touched up or sharpened in any photo editing software. We will review entries to ensure fair play. The only acceptable editing is as follows:

- Light / Saturation adjustment

- Background alteration (you may select a more suitable background for showcasing your model).

- Resize photo, if the photo is too large.

That said, it is possible that any of the above could affect the photo and give the impression it has been enhanced. Therefore we highly recommend that you keep the original unedited photo, so if there are any queries we can compare. If there is any doubt over your image and you cannot satisfy our inquiries, your entry will be refused.

About that sharpening [?] Here are two photos:
IMG_0161x144x800.jpg
Number 0161x144x800 - A bowl of experimental Cole Slaw.
IMG_0161x800x144.jpg
Number 0161x800x144 - A bowl of experimental Cole Slaw.
Both of these were processed almost identically in a software named Irfanview. (Irfanview is my goto, free application for basic image processing.)

First they were cropped to get rid of excess bowl edges and counter top. Next they were re-sized. The original raw camera image is 4032x3024 pixels. Huge. In the re-size dialog box several things are set:

  • select a new size (800x600)
  • choose a DPI value (144)
  • Preserve aspect ratio [on]
  • Apply sharpen after resample [on]
  • Adjust DPI based on new size [on]

Those last three are on/off toggles but the default is On. Most images look better when they are shrunk with the defaults. Anyway, one of the pictures above had Apply sharpen set on the other had it set to off.

My question is/are: why is a global sharpening a problem? or is a different sharpening enhancement what the rules are talking about? Would one of these images be disqualified? Can you tell which is which?

BTW:
-the 800 and 144 in the filenames are just my habit of noting the DPI and the size within the filenames.
-the recipe is available on request, in case any of you lizards are secretly vegetarian. (Send a PM; full confidentiality guaranteed.)

Is it alright if I enter a model for both the conversion and painting if it isn't on an official base.

Models for any categories may be from any manufacturer, they do not have to be just from Games Workshop. However they must be suitable for the category they are being entered in.
You can go with any appropriate model, so I think just about any base would do!

I would guess (though I'd wait for official confirmation) that the actual base size isn't that much of an issue. After all bases are pretty meaningless in AoS, so pretty much anything should work.

Sounds good drop me a private message with what you can arrange I have substant painter on steam not version 2 and a music programme but never got round to using them much :P - is there any good free 3D programmes? I saw one in a magazine before that cost like 1-2£ thousand or something it was an industry one where you just shaped what you wanted like sculpting in real life I think. Trying to make the image look as good as possible :)

Yes, feel free to enter with it.

Ill need to get back to you on this one as photographs and photograph manipulation is not my strong suite. Should have an answer for you by tomorrow.

I'm having some problems with entering. How do I add photos to a conversation? There doesn't appear to be an 'Upload a File' button, unless I'm being incredibly daft.

You can open the file they are in and drag and drop it over the image and it'll take a while to load then you can press insert thumbnail or leave it as an attachment. I didn't figure how to do this in a conversation though maybe it's diffrent
