8th Ed. Fresh Start: Making my first army

Hello everyone!

I will soon start collecting the old ones army! I always play for fun but I want to make a competitive army around 2000 points. I want to buy box per box (unit per unit) so I can focus on each individual unit playing and assembling wise.

So I think about making my first 500-1000 points. What about getting the maximum amount of Temple guard as first unit, together with saurus warriors for filling up the core?

As it seems to be shown from tournament results, the best way to go competitive is to have a strong combat block and an all Skink core. It's a little difficult to play with and can be irritating for both players at times, but it looks to be proven. So you're on a good track! Just make sure you get some Skinks to go with your TG.
