Its quite a simple slann combo, but not one I've seen posted here.
Basically you take the forbiddon rod (I think this is its name, I don't have the book infront of me), it gives D6 power dice but deals D3 wounds to the user. I've run this in a few games where I've taken lore of life on the slann. Wait until the winds of magic blow poorly, pop the forbiddon rod giving you a fairly decent casting pool whilst your opponent has very few dispel dice (hopefully). You can easily heal up the D£ wounds using Lifes attribute of gaining a wound on a succesful cast.
Cupped hands and Life don't really work so well together imo, so I've used this a few times and it works nicely.
