The match was played last night against the infamous Rat-Kin! The mission was Loot! and i'm proud to report that the Rat-Kin failed to secure a single piece of loot from the table from the Salamanders!
And to answer your request Itepixcauh.
Ancients: This unit was my hammer in the army and it fulfilled the task perfectly. It took down a regiment of rats-at arms thanks to Banechant (thanks for the suggestion Crowsfoot) and (in an choice that was a huge gamble) i decided to let my ankylodon fend for itself and get a flank charge on my opponents horde of rats-at arms which (again with banechant) procedded to annihilate the unit, while also securing a loot counter in the possession of the rats.
Ankylodon: was a strong anvil unit that held a horde of rat ogres/brutes for two turns before failing a a nerve test of 10+ even with the herald's re-roll. Due to its stoic sacrifice, it defended one of the loot tokens from being captured and held up one of the strongest combat units my opponent had. Lesson learned: even though its tough, ankylodons need an additional unit to support it against horde-sized units.
And the star of the night was...
Mage-priest: This mage literally sealed the game for me. while the banechant spell was essential to my ancients charges, whenever it used fireball, it was pyromania. In the end, after the ankylodon was routed, it was the mage who finished off the rat brutes with 8 out of 10 fireballs doing damage in one round and making them rout. Similarly, the rat-kin's herald and wizard also met very crispy ends at my mage's scaly hands.
Sad to say though, the Herald ended up being the least useful unit in the army that night. every unit that needed its re-roll didn't get the inspiration they needed, even on nerve tests of 10+ or more (there were at least 3 that night). I tend to assume that it might be because the golden banner of Xillaqua just wasn't shiny enough to be seen due to the fading light of day.
