Favourite Sci-Fi / Fantasy Books of all time... What's yours?

Interesting... and 3 books is ATM the max lenght of a series, for my tastes.
I don't mind longer series as long as the writing is up to par, but yeah, the longer a series is, the higher the chance that it loses what made it good in the first place.

All of the books are released, btw, I have ordered the two remaining; the book was just sitting in my to-do pile for years. So that is a good thing, not like The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss... amazing first two books, but it seems we will never get the third.

Just finished a new book in record time, one of the better books I have read lately, so figured I would put it here.

It is a fantasy book in which vampires have taken over after the sun has died.

Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff (It is the first in a series of three books)
Twelve by Jasper Kent. I read this a while ago but its a great book.
The Napoleonic French are advancing through Russia. The Russians hire 12 notorious mercenaries from Romania to help their war efforts.
Only these 12 are Vampires. A bit of a spoiler there but a great read.
